The cottage is idyllically situated and the owners have done everything possible to attract wildlife, making one feel that you really are in the middle of the Cairngorms. I thought there was great attention to detail in equipping the cottage and catering for guests.

This was just the most wonderful and well-equipped cottage we've ever had the pleasure to stay in. The best parts I guess are the fact that there was everything you could possibly want, the views were stunning and the cottage itself was immaculately clean. We will definitely come back as a week wasn't really long enough.

It is very secluded, amongst beautiful scenery, just as described. The furnishings are simple and comfortable and perfectly in keeping with the kind of property this is. It is very well kitted out with everything I could need. I would highly recommend it. The owner's personal attention and care in checking I was happy, was very much appreciated.

Getting away from it all and the extra effort the cottage owners made created a wonderful holiday.

The cottage was cosy and warm on our arrival, the owner made contact and were extremely helpful. It was wonderful to watch the birds and red squirrels. When it snowed, it was great to light the fire and settle down in a cosy place.

The peaceful surroundings of the cottage are great e.g. plenty of woods and animals and beautiful walks in the neighbourhood. Nearby are the Whisky-trail and the Glenlevit distillery.

Cottage had everything you needed, very well equipped. The garden was very natural and therefore attracted a lot of wildlife even in the coldest part of the year. The description was perfect in fact quite modest as the cottage is beautiful. We will recommend the cottage, the location and Sykes for a wonderful memorable holiday. This was the first stop on my Fab at 50 Holiday Tour - what a terrific start. :-)

Wonderful cottage, very cosy and well equipped. We loved watching all the wildlife that is invited into the garden, especially the red squirrels! Perfect cottage for exploring the Cairngorms, location was just right for us, outside of the busy Aviemore area, but within easy driving distance. Many beautiful walks for the dogs and areas where they could run off lead safely. Autumn colours were spectacular, especially when the snow fell on the mountains! Loch Morlich was stunning. We have recommended this cottage to family who are likely to visit!

Myrtle Cottage was more than a holiday. It is a life experience! As a family there is so much to do in and around the area. I am in love with Scotland and Myrtle cottage offers a rare insight into its true beauty. The location is perfect for a quiet break to enjoy the wonderful wildlife from the doorstep. We enjoyed every day and didn't want to come home!

Beautiful secluded cottage; warm, cosy and very comfortable. Location is perfect for peace and relaxation, watching the wildlife right outside the door. Just what we hoped for and the owners make so much effort to make you feel welcome.

We liked the remoteness of the cottage, yet the accessibility to Tomintoul and Grantown on Spey was brilliant. We were very secluded and happy to be away from 'civilization'. The scenery is incredible! Lots of great, short hikes for toddlers. Close to Landmark Park. Great holiday cottage for a family!

It was wonderful, a beautiful cottage with amazing views, you can watch the wild life as you eat your breakfast and everyone within the local area is very friendly. There are wild deer, rabbits, woodpeckers and red squirrels that come to the garden daily.

Before writing this review I was tempted to say nothing at all about this gem of a cottage, albeit, purely for selfish reasons - I wanted to keep the place a secret! Myrtle Cottage is without doubt one of the best places that I have stayed during my various stays in the Cairngorms. Its abundance of wildlife, including the Red Squirrels and the elusive Pine Martin, were an absolute delight. The owners, Phil and Jenny, were great, as was the welcome cake and bottle of wine that I received - thank you! My dog Edwin, a Miniature Schnauzer, thought the place was great too, in particular the woods that surrounds the cottage where we would take our walks each morning (certainly beats the noise of Manchester traffic!). The village of Tomintoul is about two miles away and has a pub and a small, but well equipped village shop. All in all a great week away and great value for money. Thank you again to the owners - as the saying goes, I'll be back!

Contact with the owners was positive and information was accurate. They really do look after their guests. Myrtle Cottage is in a fantastic location, there was real seclusion yet it is close enough to amenities. A genuine haven for wildlife. We will return and stay for 2 weeks next time.

This was a truely amazing cottage . Set in the middle of no where with breath taking views . Wild birds were in their abundance and we had a visit from three deer on the back lawn area and endless red squirrels visited the feeders to the front of the cottage . If peace and tranquility with the smell of a log fire is what your looking for then this is the place for you . There is every utensil needed in the kitchen and endless games and DVDs to play and watch . Only downfall for us was the expense as we stayed over the new year , however , these are the sort of prices new year breaks attract and we hope to return in the future .
