Nethergill Hay Mew description

Holiday home
Nethergill Hay Mew is a delightful three-storey barn conversion in Oughtershaw. With two bedrooms, a second floor king-size double and a twin, all with en-suites it sleeps four comfortably. There is also a first floor sitting room with woodburner and a first kitchen with dining area. Outside there is a patio area and ample off road parking. With acres of walking from the doorstep on the farm land, Nethergill Hay Mew is a great family base.

Located at the foot of Buckden Pike, and close to the head of Upper Wharfedale, the idyllic village of Buckden is the perfect place to start exploring the wonderful scenery and pretty towns of this magnificent Dale. Much of Upper Wharfedale is owned by the National Trust and is composed of dry-stone walls and barns, important flower-rich hay meadows and valleyside woodland. Renowned for its walking routes, this region is home to the famous Dales Way, which passes close to Buckden Pike. The village itself is comprised of a cluster of stone built cottages and houses set around a traditional green. The village is also home to the famous ‘Buck Inn' – a Georgian coaching pub that retains much of its old charm.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

A wonderful property in gorgeous surroundings. The owners were lovely and always had time to answer any questions we had. We will certainly return.

This was the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. To be toasty warm in the Yorkshire Dales in February while it's snowing outside is a real feat. Beautiful location, everything well thought out, the owners are incredibly helpful without being intrusive, and just a stunning area to stay in. I have already recommended this to other families and am rebooking myself.

Everything about the cottage was excellent. We very much enjoyed the remoteness of the location, the views are fantastic. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful, the cottage was spacious and really well laid out and contained everything we needed for our stay.

We loved the accommodation - very quirky. The children loved collecting eggs on the farm and meeting the animals. My dad loved the fishing. I loved the fantastic peaceful location. Something for everyone.

Superb rural location in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Very friendly owners who were eager to help you enjoy your holiday without being intrusive. The quality of the accommodation was in our opinion above the rating given by Sykes

We received a very warm welcome from the owners, who were attentive throughout our holiday. Their enthusiasm for the wildlife farm was infectious. The location is idyllic, being able to wander around the farm and visit the hides, walk from the door, and well placed to visit all parts of The Dales. The cottage is beautifully designed, offering a light, spacious cosy holiday home.

We have just returned from Nethergill Hay Mew and this was the best Sykes holiday we have had; it is luxurious without being fussy. The setting is beautiful - no traffic sounds, just animals and a babbling stream and we particularly enjoyed the lack of light pollution which allowed us to star gaze. We could walk into the country from the doorstep. Home made food was available if we felt lazy. Our children could roam safely. The beds were described by our daughter as like sleeping in a marshmallow - they were so comfortable! A great place to step off the world and revive.

It is in a location with superb views. The property was extremely comfortable and it had everything that we could have wished for. The owners are great people who made us welcome and we were made to feel that they enjoyed having us visit them. The Field Centre and the bird hides are a real bonus. The walks available in Wharfedale and even the views from the car are breathtakingly beautiful.
