Partridge Farm Cottage description

Holiday home
Partridge Farm Cottage is a cosy cottage adjoining the owners' farmhouse, on a working farm on the Linley Hall Estate near Bishop's Castle. The cottage has one bedroom with a king-size double, with the opportunity for an additional cot-bed and single futon for children under the age of five. This bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom. The living area is open plan, with a kitchen area, dining area and sitting area. Outside is off road parking for two cars, and an enclosed lawned garden with sitting area and furniture, and lovely views over the hills. Partdridge Farm Cottage makes a wonderful year-round romantic retreat.

The small and historic town of Bishop's Castle nestles in the south Shropshire hills, and is in an area renowned for its beauty and tranquillity. The town has a thriving weekly market as well as a number of independent specialist shops that offer a range of fascinating products. There are excellent pubs and cafes and two very good museums – the Railway Museum and the delightfully-named House On Crutches Museum. Bishop's Castle is the perfect place from which to explore this part of Shropshire. As well as enjoying all the opportunities for discovering the beautiful countryside, visitors can also explore the nearby towns of Ludlow and Shrewsbury. Other local attractions include the famous Offa's Dyke, the Severn Valley Railway and Powis Castle.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. The garden is fully enclosed which was great for our dog and at the entrance to the cottage there are plenty of coat hooks and a bench to take off any soggy footwear. It was great to look out over the farmyard from the bedroom window.

Excellent accommodation and location. Owner was outstanding and extremely helpful eg suggesting a local walk which was FABULOUS. A great base for walks and during our week we visited Ironbridge museum, Red Kite centre near Aberystwyth, Ludlow, Stiperstones, Long Mynd, Stokesey Castle, Ludlow Castle the list goes on.

The owners were great and couldn't have been more helpful, 6 free range eggs waiting in the kitchen! The location felt remote but at the same time only three miles from Bishops Castle. I like the idea of staying on a working farm and would have liked to have spent more time finding out about the farm. Accommodation was quirky and homely. There was a fenced area for our dog to roam.

The owners were very welcoming and helpful. The garden, as promised, was completely enclosed which was fantastic for the dogs and relaxing for us. The Cottage was cosy and comfortable with a lovely bed. The location was great, very quiet but near enough to shops and walks. Can't wait for our next visit.

The enclose garden was excellent for dogs. Location ideal for Bishops Castle, Ludlow and other surrounding towns and villages. The Farm Cottages was situated on a working farm which was very rural yet within easy distance to other villages. The owners left us to our own devices.

Stayed here to get away from it all and focus on my dissertation. Adorable cottage with everything you need, and a very comfortable bed! Great place for dog walking and a really relaxing atmosphere. I was greeted by the owner on arrival who is lovely and very accommodating. It's a beautiful area with friendly locals and a few shops down the road in bishops castle with a co op (although I'd bring your food before hand or get a delivery in which is what I did). Was sad to leave!!
