Pine Lodge Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
Pine Lodge is a detached cottage only a few minutes' stroll from the waters of Lake Windermere. The cottage has two ground floor bedrooms, a double and a twin, and a ground floor bathroom along with a kitchen diner on this floor too. This galleried sitting room is on the first floor. Outside is an enclosed rear patio, and off road parking for two cars. Pine Lodge is less than a mile from the amenities of Windermere, and with Bowness and Ambleside easily reached and the rest of the Lakes on the doorstep, makes for a wonderful year-round destination.

The twin towns of Bowness and Windermere both provide a range of amenities, shops and restaurants, plus boat trips are available from Bowness to Ambleside, the Lakeside Aquarium and Beatrix Potter's ‘Hill Top House' at Sawrey. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is on the edge of the town, plus Grizedale Forest Park is nearby and there are many National Trust properties in the area.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

This is a beautifully appointed property with everything you could need. The private jetty was a joy for my son who swam in it quite a bit and commented on how the birds were diving on him in the lake at night, which were bats of course. It was a cold wet week for July and we needed the heating on a lot and also the dryer to dry wet clothes and towels.

This being my first time in the Lake District, I thought the Lodge was great. I could walk to the number of towns around the lake.

This cottage has everything; it is clean, well decorated, very comfortable and has a good sized freezer which is boon when you are self catering. It also has the added bonus of broadband.

An excellent and quiet location, close to amenities but on a private estate. The property is well laid out and carries all that anyone would want for a comfortable relaxing week. Had a nice enclosed small sitting area that allowed us to let our dog out without worry. A quiet lane led down to a private jetty and launch beach for those who wanted access to the lake or just to sit and take in the views. We would certainly recommend to others and plan to visit again in the future.

Pine Lodge is lovely and the location beautiful. There is nothing else you could need which isn't provided. It was very clean and welcoming. If you're looking for 1st class and tranquil combined with the famous Lakes beauty then Pine Lodge is for you.

The setting of Pine Lodge is superb and it is close for both Bowness and Windermere as well as the rest of the lakes. It was relaxing and a really enjoyable experience, we will be back again.

Pine Lodge was just as we expected. It looked exactly as it did in the photographs, inside and out, and fulfilled our expectations. We would go there again and probably will sometime in the future.

We loved the location and being able to walk down to the jetty on the lake. It was also a good centre for exploring the Lake District.

Fantastic week in this unbelievably beautiful area of the country and Pine Lodge was just perfect. Just me and my dog (and he had a whale of a time.) Lodge was a delight to stay in, cosy, warm, very homely. Everything there you could need ... just wish I could have spent another week there. BUT ... I will be back. :-) Highly recommended for up to 4 adults, not really suitable for kiddies.

It was fantastic to be able to walk down to the jetty on the lake and go for a swim or just admire the view. We also saw a deer on the path one evening! The lounge area was very comfortable and has a big tv. However it was not suitable for a small baby as although they advertised having a Travel cot to use there was no space to put it! In the end we moved the mattress off the single bed and placed the travel cot on the base which was obviously not ideal. They should not advertise having a cot if it doesn't fit anywhere. They also advertised two parking spaces when it clearly said only one on the sign outside the house. The bathroom was compact but the shower was like having a wash under a hose pipe as the shower head was so small. Finally there was no wifi and despite ringing sykes on the day we arrived to ask about parking and wifi we did not get it until the last two days of our stay. This was annoying and when we asked for a refund to compensate we heard nothing back. Next time we will probably opt for a similar location but not this particular property.

Nicely appointed cottage. Small rear patio, cant imagine it getting much sunlight. Close to the lake and if you're up early enough a chance to see deer as you walk to the lake. Close to Windemere village, approx 10 mins walk. Couple of nice cafes here. Grey Walls Inn is a nice local type pub with local cask ales. Food is suprisingly good also. A bit of a longer walk to Bowness. All in all a nice base for a couple with a dog. Only criticism would be the requirement of a satellite dish or better aeriel. Tv only had BBC on the odd time we were in as we ate out every evening around Bowness and Windemere. Would be helpful for a fewguide books or local menus. Wifi was slow, other than this a nice place to stay.
