Primrose Cottage Family Cottage description

Holiday home
Set on the border between Somerset and Dorset in the outskirts of Henstridge, this single storey cottage has been skilfully converted to offer comfortable, well-equipped accommodation. With two bedrooms, this stylish property is able to sleep five people and offers a wet room shower, a separate kitchen and views from the rear across the beautiful, surrounding countryside. The cottage is also well positioned for all the amenities of the village, and the activities on offer in Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire.

Found right on the border between Somerset and Dorset, the little village of Henstridge is located at the head of the lush Blackmore Vale, used as a setting in Thomas Hardy's 'Tess of the D'Urbervilles'. Set in glorious countryside, Henstridge is well served by a shop, pubs, restaurants and a cafe and also offers a variety of stunning walks and fine views. The village itself is idyllically between Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire and is within a short drive of Sherborne - famous for its abbey and castles and as the home of Sir Walter Raleigh. Close by are a number of National Trust properties - including the Stourhead House and Gardens – whilst also within easy reach is the hilltop town of Shaftesbury - best known for the picturesque Gold Hill. The beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury, Stonehenge, Bath and The Dorset Heritage Coast are also accessible, making this a wonderfully varied holiday spot.

Somerset offers 3 areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Quantock, Mendip and Blackdown Hills. Lose yourself in the glory of nature, take a ride on a steam train, visit a traditional farmers' market or explore your mystical side at Glastonbury.

Primrose Cottage is ideally situated to explore Somerset/Dorset. The Cottage was very clean and had enough room for all 5 of us. Would definitely stay again if we were to stay in that area.

The cottage felt homely. The bed linen was lovely, carpet was new and clean, furniture was comfortable. There was everything and more you could have wanted in the kitchen. The view from the living room was over a field was very pleasant and we saw some beautiful sunsets. All in all, I didn't want to leave and could happily have moved in permanently!

The property is modern, spacious and well designed. The small outdoor patio area was a bonus when the weather allowed eating outside.

The family that run the cottage are very friendly and helpful and the cottages are brilliant value for money. The accommodation is good and has everything you need for your stay. It is an ideal location for exploring the Dorset and Somerset countryside, with plenty to do in and around the area. We had a fantastic holiday and would definitely recommend staying at Primrose Cottage.

Our experience with this house was negative for the following reasons: Not as clean as it looks at first sight. Cobwebs everywhere, inside and outside, especially hanging form the windows. it was clean only what you see at first sight. One of the rooms very small, not even room for a wardrobe. The 2nd room quite big but with a persistent humidity/wooden smell. Ventilation constantly needed to be able to stay in. Kitchen poorly equipped with cutlery ( only 4 each) No hoover available, we could not hoover the carpet for two weeks. No cleaningservice offered. Very uncomfortable bathroom as far as the shower was concerned. Filthy common washing machine/tumble dry room. Photos on the web do not correspond to reality. Owners nice providing that you do not ask them anything. When you do the get quite annoyed. In a nutshell: very disappointing experience at Primerose Cottage, we chosen it after reading all the positive comments , but our experience has been totally negative.
