Quarryside Countryside Cottage description

Holiday home
Quarryside is a delightful detached cottage in the hamlet of Muckton Bottom near to Muckton village on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds, just four miles from Louth. The living accommodation is on the first floor and consists of an open plan living area with sloping ceilings encompassing a fitted kitchen, a dining area and a sitting area. To the outside of the cottage is off road parking for two cars, a private garden with outdoor furniture and a BBQ. Set in a peaceful and remote location, Quarryside is a lovely holiday home for guests who want to get away from it all.

Muckton Bottom is a hamlet located next to the village of Muckton on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds offering picturesque views. The property is delightful, the owners are lovely and the garden and surrounding wildlife wonderful! The Jukebox is an added bonus and we certainly made good use of it as we ate breakfast watching the birds and bunnies in the garden.

Absolutely beautiful property. Well decorated, love the lay out and the theme. The area is stunning, felt so relaxed being there. We will definitely be returning next year and will be recommending this property. 10/10 couldn't want anything more.

We have just returned from a wonderful holiday at Quarryside. This lovely upside down house is spotlessly clean and very well equipped with just about all that you need. The beds are extremely comfortable and we had a great nights sleep, and once the lights are off it is pitch black. The Jukebox made it even more special and we have taken away precious memories of our girls age 9 5 dancing away. The house is situated in a lovely rural part of Lincolnshire, but was close enough to get to the seaside resorts of Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea, Skegness and Cleethorpes. Would highly recommend to anyone, couples or families.

The cottage was in a lovely peaceful setting and the owners were really friendly helpful but not intrusive. The cottage was spotless. This is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in.

The cottage itself was fantastic, well kitted out and very spacious but the best part has to be the jukebox. It made the evenings very enjoyable after long days out enjoying the woods and open spaces of Lincolnshire.

We have stayed in many properties and found Quarryside to be an excellent property to spend some quality time away in. It was very clean, spacious, has comfortable beds and the owners were both lovely and helpful but not intrusive. If you appreciate wildlife then this cottage, set in a quiet area, is the perfect place to stay. There are lots of beautiful wild birds gracing the garden. We would recommend Quarryside to family and friends and would indeed like to return ourselves in the near future.

We had a full fortnight of glorious weather in this not flat part of Lincolnshire. The cottage was unique because of its upside down nature and the working jukebox. It was spotlessly clean with everything we needed for our stay. The owners were welcoming and handy without being intrusive. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a great stay.

Special lovely location in a Quarry and an unusual cottage. Individual and with special detail solutions. Very nice garden with extra space for dining in the quarry. Good kitchen and living room with all necessary equipment. Very quiet countryside location, but near enough to next town and supermarket. Good for going on walks in the Lincolnshire Wolds, as well as visiting historic towns and a day at the beach. A nice place for relaxing family holidays.

The cottage has everything that is needed to enjoy a relaxing holiday. The overall standard of the cottage is excellent and whilst it is in a quiet location, all of the facilities of the area are within close proximity by car. The quirkiness of the upside down layout and the nostalgic full size jukebox all added to the overall enjoyment.

Really quiet location - nice and secluded but at the same time only a ten minute drive from the town centre of Louth so in a really good loaction.

It was a complete joy to stay in this intriguing cottage. It felt like staying in somebody's home, everything required was provided and more. The owners were extremely welcoming and helpful. The area was very rural and quiet with beautiful countryside in every direction. We wholeheartedly recommend anyone to stay here.

A peaceful retreat but convenient for sites and attractions, we would certainly go back again.

January 2011
The property and location were exactly what we were after. The interior has been done to a high standard and I thought having a 1960's juke box in the living room area was a really nice touch. The owners were very helpful, we felt really at ease and relaxed which was purpose of the holiday.
June 2016
We wanted a warm, clean base with a nice shower and comfy beds for our week away and we got that and more! The property is delightful, the owners are lovely and the garden and surrounding wildlife wonderful! The Jukebox is an added bonus and we certainly made good use of it as we ate breakfast watching the birds and bunnies on the garden. (We thought slip mats in the showers may be a good idea?) There are plenty of pubs close by serving good food and plenty to see and do, from seaside visits to wildlife places and stately homes.
April 2016
The upside down house is nice especially if your vertically challenged like myself as at least that way you don't spend your whole holiday banging your head on the very low parts of the ceiling. The views and surrounding area is very tranquil and stunningly beautiful and full of wonderful wildlife which is truly a joy to watch. Liked about the stay: The views The Jukebox The Shower Dislikes: The owners attitudes towards my family The hot water going cold mid washing up The fridge door falling off The security lights waking us up The shaky staircase The unsafe steps to seating area lack of information on house operation ignition button on stove jumps off into flames on hob once lit NO broom (which I remedied out of my own pocket all future guests your welcome) needless to say the issues are many and the stay was very disappointing stayed 10 days before feeling so unwelcome we had to leave
August 2015
Quarryside is unique, and not just because of the jukebox in the living room. The cottage makes perfect use of a remarkable site on the edge of a small quarry, with sitting-out areas to catch the sun at any time of day. The upside-down layout with the bedrooms below means that the living area is particularly light and spacious. It is very well furnished and equipped, and the owners, who live next door, are particularly helpful and welcoming.
August 2014
this cottage had it all,the owner and his good lady could not have been more helpful, the cottage has a duke box and it was well used, overall i would have to say that we had a wonderful time and i will be going back, but to anyone with difficulty on stairs this one is not for you.
December 2013
we loved the cottage and the accomodation was forst class but did not find the area (linconshire) to our liking
August 2013
Great accommodation.Cottage is tastefully decorated and furnished. Located in a very quiet area with nice garden.Pub nearby serving excellent food. Centrally located for visiting lincolnshire.Would have been perfect except for the owners two cats which would enter the cottage at any opportunity so all doors had to be kept closed even in the sunny weather. Would have been nice to eat outside but again couldnt do as the cats kept jumping on the table. if you are not ardent cat lovers do not stay here.
October 2011
a very modern and interesting place to stay.beautiful gardens to walk in.good, friendly hosts. 2 en-suite shower rooms, lovely! mind your head in the lounge
January 2012
cottage was lovely and comfortable. close to large town but tucked away in lovely countryside. owner was discreet but available if needed. booking was very easy and efficient. liked cottage and location. staircase was a little wobbly!!
December 2012
The highlight of our stay was the Juke Box. Something that took us back to our youth. it was a lovely surprise. Tha Cottage is very comfortable with very high quality fittings. The shower is pure luxury I could have stayed in all day. The owners are lovely people and though they are about do not impose on privacy. It is in a very beautiful area of the wolds and set just off a quiet road.We liked it very much. I would have liked another saucepan for cooking though I would add I did not ask the owners for one and I am sure if I had have done one would have been supplied
July 2013
