Roosters description

Holiday home
Roosters is a stone-built, detached barn conversion in the centre of the historic town of Much Wenlock and can sleep four people. This cottage has a king-size double bedroom with TV, a twin bedroom, a shower room, a separate basin and WC, a kitchen, a dining hall and a sitting room with a woodburning stove. Outside there is off road parking for two cars, secure bike storage, an enclosed front patio and gravelled courtyard with furniture and a barbecue. Roosters is a wonderful base for your romantic break in Shropshire.

Much Wenlock is an attractive, historic market town amid beautiful Shropshire countryside. Dating back over 700 years, a trip to Much Wenlock is reminiscent of stepping back in time, as you stroll the twisting streets, past the quaint cottages and timbered buildings, browsing the speciality shops or stopping in the traditional pubs and good restaurants. The remains of the 12th century priory retain a real sense of the grandeur of the original building. The area around Much Wenlock offers excellent walking, riding and cycling, not least along the wonderful Wenlock Edge, a 15 mile ridge which rises over the town and offers glorious views. Visit Ironbridge, Ludlow, Stokesay Castle or Acton Scott Working Farm.

A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.

Gas central heating with woodburning stove. Double gas oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, 2 x TVs with Freeview, DVD, iPod dock, WiFi. Fuel, power and starter pack for stove inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot, highchair and stairgate on request. Off road parking for 2 cars. Front courtyard garden with furniture and BBQ. Covered patio with furniture. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shops 3 mins walk, pub 1 min walk. We spent a lovely and most relaxing weekend at charming Roosters which is located in the picturesque village of Much Wenlock. Roosters is extremely well equipped, the ample parking is ideal as it is off road and therefore private. The property is extremely well looked after and comfortable with a cosy living room with the log burner ready for us to get going. We did and we just felt like enjoying the up to date DVDs collection and board games available. We were extremely grateful for all the walking maps available so we could get the dog going on his daily walks without having to do too much homework. As suggested, we went for an early dinner at the local pet friendly pub, the George and Dragon. We certainly would recommend this but pets are only allowed in the bar area so get there early as you cannot book a table.

I have stayed in a great many cottages, but this one ranks as one of the very best. Everything required for an enjoyable stay was included. I can't really find any fault and the location was brilliant. I would urge people not to completely book it up however, as I am looking forward to returning. I'll be back!

Roosters is an extremely cosy cottage in a very nice location to explore all the attractions that the local area has to offer. It is a credit to the owner, a very nice lady who we had the pleasure of meeting. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anybody who is interested in visiting this part of the country.

This cottage is really lovely, one of the best that I have stayed in. The location is a dream as there are a lot of facilities a stone's throw away and yet it is in a quiet location. I think the charming courtyard garden will be a real bonus in the nicer weather too.

A lovely cottage in a lovely area situated conveniently to the quiet market town centre of Much Wenlock. The cottage is spacious, beautifully fitted out with every convenience and was tastefully designed. The owners were friendly and helpful when information was needed. There was lots to enjoy in the local area, would definitely go back to this cottage again. Very highly recommended.

The cottage was very comfortable and had everything you needed for your stay. Booking was simple and instructions were clear. On arrival, the owners provided the essentials such as milk, tea coffee and some tasty chocolate brownies. The cottage is in an excellent location for visiting attractions in the local area. The village of Much Wenlock also has a couple of restaurants and pubs. We would book this cottage again if we want to re-visit the area.

A very well-converted cottage in a lovely little town. Clean, comfortable and homely, with everything you could need. Comfy beds, and nice big bath towels provided. Set back from the road in a quiet courtyard. Pretty paved area for sitting outside, not overlooked by neighbours. Not really secure for dogs or small children however as there is no gate to stop them from running into the road if you are not keeping an eye on them! Bathroom rather small, and the bath with shower over was a bit difficult to negotiate for a taller person, with the slopping roof, and small sized bath. Lots of things to do nearby, and Much Wenlock itself a good town for independent shops, places to eat, and access to the surrounding countryside. Local people all very friendly!
August 2014
We were not disappointed when we arrived to this lovely cottage. It has plenty of room for our daughter to run around outside. The kitchen was well equipped and clean. The beds were super comfy, which was very important for us.
