A nice comfortable cottage secluded and quite within easy reach of lots of places of interest. A real home from home. The garden was a lovely haven to return to and the wine and biscuits were very welcome after a long journey. Plenty of room for the four of us. It was very nice to have a separate dining room a with a CD player and sofa for the occasions when some of us wanted some quite time to ourselves away from the television.

July 2012
We loved the cottage! It was very comfortable and very private. It was reassuring to have a fully enclosed garden as we brought our dog with us. Sadly the weather prevented us from making the most of the beautiful gardens. The village was very pretty and the two pubs within walking distance were very welcoming and provided good food. We particularly enjoyed visiting the farm shop, they had a lovely range of goods and were extremely friendly and helpful. The cottage was well situated for visiting interesting sites in both Yorkshire and Durham with very easy access to the motorway.
Mrs Hodson

This is the second time we had stayed at Rose Cottage. The cottage is brilliant being set in its own grounds and having a dog proof garden. So quiet and peaceful at nighttime. We love the coal fire for nighttime, its so cosy. Both the Carlbury Arms and The George are within a two minutes walk and the food is very good at both. Good walks from the cottage and regular bus service to Darlington if you want a break from driving. We will return to Rose Cottage in the future.

A beautiful cottage, the fully enclosed beautiful garden was a definite plus point.
Mrs Jones
July 2006
The cottage was exactly as described, with a beautifully cared for garden, well enclosed, which was important as we had a small dog. The owners had gone that little bit further by providing a bottle of wine and chocolates on our arrival. We were not bothered by the owners during the holiday, but were left with contact numbers if we needed to contact them. There was a good supply of fuel for an open fire, which was appreciated because it was chilly for the first 2 evenings.

November 2013
This is a lovely cottage with loads of character. An open coal fire for the cold evenings just added a perfect touch. Really enjoyed our stay. Had the best nights sleep in the double bed, but be prepared the single beds mattress have been sat on a little too much on the sides, so unless you lay in the middle you may tip off!. Its lovely and spacious, a lovely enclosed garden front and back. The owner is really nice. Piercebridge Roman fort was only a very sort walk away. On Orange and o2 there was basically no phone signal at all. The organic farm shop sells the papers.
October 2013
This was a place that you would love to own yourself. The latout was good, the rooms were of good size and the garden was lovely. A farm shop was next door that also had a little cafe. Stayed here for the Roman ruins. Only down fall was if you had 6 people staying was not enough cutlery.

During our many visits to the dales, this cottage has proven to be a very comfortable and convenient base, with a very dog friendly garden and being ideally located to visit our families in North Yorkshire. It is situated in an interesting village with an inn and a hotel both serving good meals. There are good walks from the door, especially by the river and the remains of the roman fort. We have stayed at Rose cottage several times and will be back for another enjoyable stay.

December 2009
My husband and myself plus Edward the Border Collie cross had a brilliant week in Rose Cottage back in August 2008. Not too far away from home (about hour or so) we arrived in Piercebridge with a little apprehension as its not the prettiest of villages. We found Rose Cottage and the owner was there to greet us. She was so lovely and friendly. When she left it was just like being in our own little piece of heaven...set back from the road, huge and secure front garden and driveway...great enclosed back garden....secluded and very peaceful !! Inside was cosy, clean and very well presented. Great walks around the area, plenty to do but ultimately a fantastic retreat to just a was safe to wander in of wine...fab !! Weather could have been better, but thats the UK for you. I would have no hestation in recommending Rose Cottage. I highly commend it !!!
