Holiday home
Scartaglen is a wonderful, detached cottage situated in lush green countryside outside the rural village of Scartaglen, just 16 miles from Killarney in County Kerry and can sleep eight people. The cottage has three double bedrooms (one with an en-suite shower room), a twin bedroom, a ground floor bathroom, a shower room, an open plan living area with kitchen, dining area and sitting area with a woodburner and a second sitting room with a woodburner. Outside there is ample off road parking, a lawned garden to the front and a decked area to the rear with furniture. Scartaglen is an ideal base for your Irish holiday.

Set alongside lake filled valleys in south west of Ireland is the town of Killarney. A popular holiday destination, this lovely settlement offers an abundance of traditional pubs and restaurants, as well as a colourful theatre and a host of good shops. Attractions include the celebrated Ladies' View - named after Queen Victoria's Ladies in Waiting - and the MacGillicuddy Reeks, Ireland's largest mountain range. Visitors can hire a horse-drawn jaunting car to explore the exciting walks at the National Park, or enjoy in a spot of local fishing. A range of sandy beaches are within half an hour's drive, whilst the Ring of Kerry, the vibrant town of Tralee and the stunning Dingle Peninsula are all just a short distance away.

County Kerry is a mystical and unspoilt part of Ireland, with spectacular natural beauty and a fascinating history. Facing the Atlantic Ocean, it features many sandy beaches, rocky inlets and stunning peninsulas.

We had a wonderful stay, Scartaglen is a very well appointed house that felt like a 'home from home'. An excellent base to explore the beautiful surroundings and places of interest...notably Killarney National Park, Ring of Kerry Dingle Peninsula. Already looking forward to coming back and will be recommending this property to family and friends.

The house was very comfortable. The place was very quiet with a remarkable view of the countryside. We enjoyed the charming and useful fire place.

The house in Scartaglen was very comfortable and there was plenty of room. The location was good for travelling to both Killarney Tralee and the house is off the main road so safe for children. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the house is perfect for getting away from the city and seeing more of the countryside. The stove was excellent and despite the size of the house it felt very cosy.

The owners were polite and helpful. The house was well designed, comfortable and we were never short of amenities. We were pleasantly surprised to have wifi access as well. The view from the house was amazing. It was really a home away from home. The location was great as it was private yet close enough to attractions in the Kerry. We will definitely stay there again the next time we visit Kerry.

Just returned from a brilliant week in Scartaglen. Location is brilliant. Not too far from Killarney which is perfect. We went with young children and the house was perfect and Una catered for all our needs. House was clean and spacious and outdoors was well kept and the kids loved it. Lots of room for them to run around. Would definitely recommend to anyone with young children:)

Just returned from a very enjoyable week here - good accommodation in a quiet tranquil spot. From this base we visited Killarney / National Park the Dingle Peninsula the Ring of Kerry and the Beara Peninsula as well as Cork and Kinsale. We had long days out so when we returned to the house we were glad to be able to relax and cook a meal as if we were at home- the kitchen is well equipped for self-catering. The owners are friendly and helpful- they kindly provided a welcoming bottle of wine and put fresh milk in the fridge for our arrival. This south-west area area of Ireland has everything - beautiful landscapes mountains lakes wide sweeping bays and clean beaches.Stunning.

We hired with Hogans Cottages. This is an excellently appointed, comfortable and substantial former farmhouse (we met the local owner, whose family have farmed here for 6 generations, and who was born in the house), which has now been renovated and modernised to a very high standard. We spent 2 weeks here, and thoroughly enjoyed our time, using the property as a touring base, to visit the 5 Peninsulas, up to Cliffs of Moher in Clare, across to Ballybunion, climbed Carrauntoohil, etc. A choice of 3 large supermarkets, fuel and all amenities within 10 mins drive at Castleisland, Kerry Airport within 20 mins, and Killarney and the Lakes within 40 mins. A great location and a fine property.
