Seashell Cottage description

Holiday home
Seashell Cottage is a delightful, mid-terrace cottage, ideally located just 400 yards from the shore, in the pretty fishing port of Amble and can sleep four people. The cottage has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room with an open fire. Outside there is roadside parking and a small, enclosed yard with furniture and a barbecue. Seashell Cottage is a wonderful holiday base by the sea.

The bustling little seaport of Amble is situated at the mouth of the River Coquet and is an ideal place for exploring Northumberland. Amble offers a marina, a harbour, sandy beaches and coastal walks. Large fishing boats moor along the harbour wall and land a variety of fish, prawns, crabs and lobsters - the daily catch can be bought at a fish shop in the harbour. A mile south of Amble is Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve with a large population of terns, puffins and eider ducks and boat trips around the island can be arranged. The pretty coastal villages of Alnmouth and Craster and numerous superb beaches are only a short drive away, whilst picturesque Warkworth with its castle, charming Alnwick with its castle and award winning gardens, and the National Trust's Wallington Hall and Cragside are all within easy reach.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

An excellent location, very close to the beach and close to all local amenities including a lovely bakery around the corner and some very good pubs and restaurants. The cottage was very warm and comfortable and felt very homely. We found everywhere to be very dog friendly and our two spaniels were made very welcome. We fell in love with Northumberland and the beautiful beaches and countryside. We enjoyed the holiday very much and will definitely go back!

Despite very cold weather, the property was warm and homely. Everything we needed was there. It was good for dogs as the beach was only a short distance away and the kitchen was good for night time.

A charming, warm, welcoming and friendly cottage that was easy to use and that felt safe and secure. It was lovely to have an open fire too and easy to obtain fuel locally. Being able to park right outside the front door was a plus for me.

Loved the proximity to the beach, only about 4mins walk. Ideal for our dog on the early walk. Also a walk around the two jetties was very nice, with a lovely view of Warkworth Castle and the harbour. The cottage was very warm, cosy and well equipped. Well positioned for travelling both North and South along the coast. Nice High Street, selling almost everything. All in all a very nice holiday.

Central location for areas to visit. Everything was clean and tidy and small bits and pieces were already there ie toilet roll, salt pepper etc. Lovely stay. Owner really friendly on the phone, felt 'at home'.

Seaside Cottage offered us a warm and cosy place to stay for a week at Amble. It is a terraced house with fairly large rooms, within a short walking distance of the coast, the harbour and the town centre, everything else being nearby too, such as a 7 x 24 Co-op supermarket that bakes fresh bread and one of the best fish and chip shops ever. There is a small, enclosed courtyard at the back of the house (enough space for the small table and chairs) and the house is adequately equipped, including Wi-Fi. At the time of our visit there were a few repairs needed, mainly to the dishwasher and the oven and some paint on the staircase, but still the cottage offered us a good place to stay, and pet friendly too, which was much appreciated.

This cottage is very warm and has a wonderfully friendly atmosphere, helped by the open fire in the living room. It is in a quiet road and just a 10 minute stroll to the great indoor swimming pool at the local leisure centre. The huge sandy beach is beautiful and also, only a short walk away. The wifi works well and the cottage is well equipped. It's a great base for exploring the coast and the moors. Can't wait to return! A wonderful and peaceful break - I heartily recommend it.

A true home from home. There was everything you could need and it was scrupulously clean. Didn't want to leave!
