Shepherd's Lodge was as advertised and in fact the photos did not do the property and the views the justice they deserved. Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcome by the owner. The facilities were exceptional and we brought many things that we did not need. The views from the dining room table is unforgettable and made us feel like we have truly escaped from city life. We will definitely be back.

We were made to feel very welcome indeed. Our children loved the space and access to farm life. There was so much to do and see in the area. We were all very happy for the whole week and will return!

The best cottage we have ever stayed in. The finish is fabulous and very well appointed. We loved the area and the children really enjoyed being on a working farm. Or hosts couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Would love to go back.

Beautiful cottage in absolutely stunning surroundings. The owner couldn't have been any more friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. We felt at home from the minute we arrived and had such a relaxing stay. The cottage really does have everything you need. A week just wasn't enough to see it all so we hope to return again in the future. Highly recommended.

It was quiet and peaceful, with outstanding scenery. The cottage was marvellous and the owner and her family are very friendly and welcoming. The cottage lacked absolutely nothing and was very comfortable. The view from the dining area was lovely to look out on, rain or shine.

The cottage was lovely, and furnished with good quality furniture. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. I particularly enjoyed drinking my morning coffee sitting at the dining table whilst looking at the glorious views across the dales.

Liked the views from the cottage, the walks from the door and in the area, but most of all, the friendliness of the owners and their family. After coming to the Dales for 13 years this is the best cottage we've stayed in.

A beautiful cottage adjoining the farmhouse with a very friendly family on the working farm and plenty of animals to see. Well insulated, furnished and stocked, possibly the most well equipped kitchen we've seen and all the home comforts. The cottage is in a lovely setting, nestling in a little valley of its own with a babbling brook feeding a larger stream. A perfect base for exploring the Dales. The beds are comfy (the master bed is huge), the bath is lovely, the towels are soft and the under-floor heating is great.

The cottage is in a beautiful setting and has been furnished and maintained to a very high standard. The owners were very welcoming and friendly but never intrusive. We had some lovely walks in the area and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the dale.

Shepherd's Lodge was a joy from beginning to end. The owners were extremely warm, friendly and helpful. The cottage was fantastically well equipped and immaculately presented. For us, walkers and lovers of spectacular landscapes, the location could not have been better, with marvellous walks in Arkengarthdale from the door and short journeys by bike or car to Swaledale and Wensleydale. Highly recommended.

Myself, wife and young son stayed at Shepherds lodge in Dec 2015. We've stayed in many rental properties in the UK and it is by far the best. The kitchen in particular was so well stocked with just about every utensil or pan you might need. The decor was modern but tastefully decorated throughout. Helen the owner lives next door and could not have been more helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and she made us feel so welcome during our stay. Some family visited during our stay and were so impressed they're also thinking of booking the cottage in the future! Don't hesitate booking here if you want a peaceful break with plenty of walks from the door.

We had a fantastic holiday. The cottage was really well fitted out and the bed was exceedingly large and comfortable - we certainly caught up on our sleep! There were lovely walks straight from the door up over the dales.

We had a wonderful holiday in Shepherds Lodge. After recently staying in a cottage which had been badly maintained, it was a total delight to walk into Shepherds Lodge and find it so clean, beautifully maintained, warm, cosy and everything you could need close at hand. It was so lovely, we were more than content to spend the evenings by the log burner, and cook a meal in the delightful, kitchen. The walks in the area are stunning. So many places to visit, and although we visit the Dales regularly, we never tire of the breathtaking scenery. The week always goes way too fast. We have booked our return visit already. Helen is a great host and obviously understands the needs of cottage holidaymakers!

Beautiful cottage finished to a high standard in an outstanding Yorkshire Dales Location. Fabulous views from the cottage and doorstep. The cottage was gorgeous inside and out. The family went all out to make this a special holiday for us. We enjoyed seeing the new born lambs and learning a little about farm life. The attention to detail has made this an unforgettable experience.
