Situated in the heart of the Lune Valley, just 5 miles from the popular town of Kirkby Lonsdale, Station House is ideally located for exploring Lancashire as well as the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. This impressive double fronted semi-detached house which dates back to the 18th century previously served as the Station House for Melling railway station but has been lovingly restored into a spacious and comfortable holiday home, set in attractive gardens. The rear garden overlooks the railway (nearest stations are Wennington or Bentham) which is still operational, but there are only 4-5 services per day. Station House is just two miles from Hornby with its castle and tea rooms which offers a good range of shops, galleries and eateries. Other places of interest nearby include the Yorkshire Dales town of Ingleton with its famous waterfalls and caves (7 miles), Morecambe Bay (14 miles), Forest of Bowland Area Of Natural Beauty (25 miles), the popular Lake District town of Kendal (18 miles) and the historic city of Lancaster with its medieval castle, theatres, galleries and cinemas (11 miles). Other picturesque towns and villages nearby include Arnside, Silverdale and Carnforth all of which are within a short drive. Should you wish to leave the car behind, you can take a train into Skipton, which connects with the service to Leeds. Whilst this area is well known for being a walkers paradise there are many other activities for the whole family to enjoy from markets and festivals to more energetic activities such as sailing, power gliding, windsurfing, horse riding, mountain biking, swimming, golf and pot holeing.
