Sweeps Cottage Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
Sweeps Cottage is a deceptively spacious, stone-built mid-terrace, in a quiet courtyard setting less than a minute's walk from Skipton's high street. With three bedrooms, a king-size double, a double and a single, it sleeps five people comfortably. There is also a bathroom, a sitting room with dining area and a kitchen. Outside, there is a a small patio area, perfect for sitting out with a cold drink after a busy day exploring, and also off road parking for one car. Sweeps Cottage is a fantastic base for a Yorkshire Dales break.

Skipton is well placed for visiting all that the Dales have to offer. This market town boasts an ancient castle open to the public, a beautiful old parish church and a market occupying the cobbled setts each side of the high street. Enjoy a canal trip on a traditional barge or visit Embsay Steam Railway, which has regular steam train excursions at the weekend and is only 1 mile away.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Gas central heating with underfloor heating in bathroom and gas fire. Electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, TV with Freeview, DVD, WiFi, selection of books, games and DVDs. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot and highchair available on request. Off road parking for 1 car. Small front patio area with furniture. We would not hesitate to return to this lovely town not to mention the gem of a cottage nestled down a back street but within a hop skip and a jump of the main facilities that Skipton has to offer. Very peaceful as well as no noise from traffic at all.
Mrs Storer

February 2015
I have stayed in quite a few cottages in this area and Sweeps Cottage is by far the best. Spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Private parking at the door is a real boon in town centres. All in all a first class location and property.
Mrs Watson
November 2014
A very nice property - would certainly recommend to others.

November 2014
We loved the location and how close we were to the centre of Skipton. If we decide to holiday in Skipton again this is the cottage we will want to stay in.
Mr Knott
November 2014
It was great to be in the heart of Skipton and yet in a quiet environment. The heated bathroom floor was wonderful! I loved the way the property had been restored, it retained its original ambience yet was totally modern. Somewhere to park the car swung it for us when booking but the entire holiday was wonderful.
Mrs Miller
October 2014
We had a fabulous week at Sweeps Cottage. It's location is perfect, so close to all the lovely eateries and shops, yet very quiet. The property was spotless and well furnished. Skipton was very friendly and we loved the variety of shops - it's really niche that there aren't too many high street shops there, lots of local traders. We enjoyed days out in the dales and Harrogate, as well as some walks straight from the doorstep (the main reason for our booking was the amazing Yarndale!). We'll definitely be back!
Mrs Roulston
August 2014
The property was well presented, clean and comfortable. The cottage has been furnished to a high standard and the owners were friendly and welcoming. Very enjoyable holiday, a home from home.

July 2014
The location of the cottage was excellent- close proximity to shops and the canal. Skipton had a carnival feel due to preparations for The Tour de France. We were sorry that we couldn't stay on to see it !
Ms Johnson-burgess
June 2014
Sweeps Cottage is one of the loveliest places I have stayed. It was clean, well equipped and a real home from home.
Mrs Horn
June 2014
We enjoyed a family holiday in Skipton and Sweeps Cottage was a superb and plush cottage to make our break so relaxing. The close proximity to shops and restaurants was great and yet the cottage was in a peaceful area. The canal nearby was an added bonus and our dog enjoyed the walks alongside it. Would definitely go back again.
Ms Patterson
June 2014
A beautiful character cottage, furnished to an extremely high standard and fantastic location straight off the high street. Would recommend very highly.
Mr Furber
May 2014
The cottage is perfectly situated in the centre of town and close to all amenities. All rooms in the house were clean, bright and very comfortable.
Mrs Nylec
May 2014
The cottage was a wonderful departure from the normal holiday/hotel stay. The Owner set up a wonderful home-away-from-home for us with movies, books and a box full of local attractions that came in very helpful each day as we set up our schedule. The Owner even included train schedules! The heated bathroom floor was an additional bonus on the cooler UK mornings.
Ms Corbett
May 2014
This house is a lovely place to stay. It was warm and comfortable and very well located between the high street and the canals.
April 2014
The location of the property was perfect, 1 min away from the high street, 2 mins from the nearest pub and the canal at the bottom of the street. The cottage was spotlessly clean and was a fantastic base for our stay.
Mr Hastings
April 2014
Great location, very modern and well-kept property. Comfortable and very quiet, particularly given the cottage's close proximity to the High Street. Spacious, airy and a pleasure to stay in. Lovely being so close to the canal and the walk through to Skipton Woods. Would have no hesitation booking this cottage again.
Mrs Watson
February 2014
The standard of accommodation was 5 star. We arrived to a lovely warm cottage with tea, coffee, sugar and milk waiting for us. The downstairs had laminated flooring throughout, so was ideal for our dog. The beds were so comfortable that we didn't miss our own beds at all. To top all this off, the location was brilliant, both canal and town centre within minutes and so many walks that we did not need the car during our stay. Look forward to coming again.
Mrs Hurst
January 2014
The location of the cottage was so convenient, close to shops, restaurants and bars. Will definitely be back.
January 2014
Top class cottage, great to have parking and be in town centre, able to walk out for a drink or meal in the evening. Cottage was warm on arrival and it was lovely and cosy. Will hopefully return.
Mrs Cowton
February 2014
The cottage was the best and cleanest I have ever stayed in. It was very warm and comfortable, was only a few steps away from the town shops but at the same time was very quiet. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, I would not hesitate to book again.
Mrs Hanson
December 2013

Mr O'Farrell
October 2013
Fabulous location. Beautiful interior, very cosy, would definitely visit again. Owner very helpful and accommodating.
July 2015
This is a beautiful, stylish cottage and we found it spotless. It is also furnished with everything you will need except for free Wi-Fi but I found that to be a bonus! The neighbours were very friendly and it was incredibly quite given the cottage's close proximity to the main street - 1 minute walk. I'm sure that we will stay in Skipton again in the future and if Sweeps Cottage is still available there will be no question about where we will be staying.

April 2015
Fantastic location and a really nice cottage , we loved every minute there . The high street with all the pubs , shops and restaurants is a two minute walk one way and the canal towpath walks are two minutes the other way. The cottage has been tastefully and sympatheticly renovated to a high standard . It's fully equipped with everything you could need for your stay and even had some milk , coffee and biscuits waiting for us when we arrived . We will definitely be staying there again soon
August 2014
This is a wonderfully sympathetically restored cottage with high quality fittings and furniture. It is centrally located between the town and the canal. We would highly recommend it as a base to discover the wonderful scenery and places in and around Skipton. There are only two negatives, one that is easily solved and that it can only accommodate one car and the other can be parked nearby but its best to buy a weekly ticket. The other negative which should be provided is Wi-fi whch given the wonderful review just given - is inexplicable, This was a real problem resulting in visits to coffee shops which in this modern age is totally unnecessary. The access to the bedroom is difficult and would not be suitable for older people or someone with a disability. Anne's 81 year old mother really struggled with the stairs but that is just the design of the cottage (although a door assist of some sort would good as once open you could not get out the back door). However it was not something that is easily solved as its part of the design of this old cottage.
April 2014
We spent a wonderful New Year in the lovely cottage. All of Skiptons restaurants and bars are on the door step. The cottage is equipped to the highest standard throughout but lacks a freezer compartment in the fridge.
January 2014
We had a lovely time at sweeps cottage Cottage is beautiful Very comfortable great location Perfect !!!

February 2014
Only stayed for 4 nights as this was our first trip with our dog. The caretaker had put the heating on for us and left milk, tea, coffee, sugar and a box of biscuits, what a lovely welcome!! The accommodation is first rate and the laminate flooring downstairs most convenient to wipe clean of muddy pawprints. Could not have asked for a better situation so close to both the Town Centre and the canals. We intend to return soon and for a longer stay.
Mrs Hurst
