When the only negative thing you can come up with about your stay in Sweet pea Cottage is that the complimentary Laura Ashley handlotion in the bathroom wasn't the best you ever had, well, then you know you've found perfection.
The Yorkshire Dales are a truly beautiful piece of Britain and this cottage is situated perfectly for a comfortable base of operations to explore the area. Redmire is in the northern part of the Dales and provides easy access to the nearby town of Leyburn for shopping and dining. If you take a big step from the front door of Sweet Pea Cottage you immediately step inside the Bolton Arms pub, just a few meters down the road. A nice, cosy and friendly atmosphere and good , honest pub grub. Try the Theakson dark for a nice ale.
The cottage itself sleeps four people in two bedrooms, located on the top floor. A compact but squaky clean and cosy bathroom with toilet is also situated there. The ground floor has a spacious and well equipped kitchen where you can cook and dine. The owners, who, unfortunately we didn't meet, provided us with a very nice complimentary welcome-basket with tea and breakfast rolls and because we were there in the week before Easter, chocolate eggs and bunnies for my kid. They even provided doggy snacks for our pooch Lewis!
The living area is very tastefully decorated and offers comfortable seating, a well stocked wood burner and all the entertainment you could want: tv, sat, dvd, music set.... A little hall way through to the back entrance was the perfect spot for the doggie bench.
We can't recommend this cottage enough: it's all you need for a relaxing stay in the Dales. We walked the public footpaths around the area almost every day and took some trips to the seaside and to Grassington. Yorkshire people are very accomodating and nice to talk to so we were never left wanting for anything.
Try sweet Pea cottage on your next visit to the Dales; you won't regret it. We will return for sure!
