Tapestry Cottage description

Holiday home
This charming end terrace cottage is situated on the outskirts of Milnthorpe in an elevated position with views over the surrounding countryside and coast. With cosy and comfortable accommodation, this warm and snug property has been furnished and decorated to a high standard in order to achieve a real home-from-home feel. The property has two beautiful and airy bedrooms, a superb fitted kitchen and comfortable sitting room with a feature picture window. Excellently placed for local amenities and activities, the town centre is just a short walk away and offers a good range of pubs and local restaurants, whilst other attractions - such as the popular town of Kendal - are just a short drive away.

Once an important medieval market town, the settlement of Milnthorpe is located in the southern Lake District between Kendal and Carnforth. Just a few miles from the seaside village of Arnside, evidence of Milnthorpe's history can still be found amongst the narrow lanes and historic buildings, illustrating a time before the motor car. Set in lovely rolling countryside, the area also offers many great outdoor activities including the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis with its tropical hall and butterfly house. Dallam Tower and Levens Hall - both of which are historic stately homes with deer parks, topiary and ornamental gardens - provide a great day out for visitors. Other excellent attractions include Leighton Hall, Sizergh Castle, the Great Lakes Aquarium, Windermere and Grizedale Forest - all of which are located within easy reach.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Mr Ward
December 2013
The location of the property was just perfect for our needs for lovely walks in the deer park, sand side, Arnside Knot and Levens Park to name but a few.
October 2014
The property looked very good in the photos, however they must have been taken years ago! The furniture was tired, the kitchen was grubby and the mattress on the double bed very uncomfortable. The double bedroom was also very cramped. The shower curtain in the bathroom was mouldy and unwashed. The steep steps to the cottage were covered with overgrown vegetation and very dangerous. The rear garden was also overgrown and apart from the decked area was unusable. We never found the barbecue! All in all it needs a very good overhaul.
Dr Rowland

Tapestry cottage is conveniently located in the village of Milnthorpe in the southern part of the Lakes District close to Morcambe Bay and the Yorkshire Dales. Access to the motorways allows visitors to plan their day according to the local weather patterns and the many venues cater for all tastes and interests, returning each evening to the comfort of the cottage and to be greeted by Minnie the friendly neighbour's cat.
December 2009
we loved this beautiful cottage, Milnthorpe is a lovely quiet village and the people of Milnthorpe are very friendly. The cottage was homely, with games and cards for the raining nights. We will certainly be coming back.
April 2010
What's nice about Sykes is that you are allowed to book at the very last minute (like the day before)! So was chuffed we were allowed to stay at the cottage. The outside of the property doesn't do it justice - its absolutely lovely inside. Very warm and cozy. Milnthorpe is a great village with everything you could want - e.g. a good butchers, an Indian Takeaway, and two chinese takeaways, not to mention fish and chip shop and pubs to drink/eat in. The cottage is so close to Windermere and Lancaster, with lots to do and see. Would stay again most definitely, and would recommend this. The only downside is that it would not be suitable for wheelchair users (it's got steps and it's on a slope).
February 2013
I am local to the area visiting family so I was aware the property was small, but I was disappointed with the standard, generally well used and tired and needs a good spring clean, the fridge wasn't clean and I found broken glass on the kitchen side. Main bedroom needs a new mattress, most uncomfortable. I telephoned Skyes the day after I checked in to express my disappointment in the standard of the property for the price I paid, they told me they would report back to the owner, my comments were not satisfactory resolved.
Mrs Richardson
January 2006
The standard of accommodation was very high. The furnishings were new and thus was home from home quality. Location great, lot's of amenities close at hand.
July 2012
Two couples stayed for a week when we were blessed with unusually good weather. The accommodation suited our needs as an excellent base for Lune Valley, Arnside & Silverdale, Morecambe area and South Lakes. A good choice of shops nearby. We felt the bedrooms layout was more suited to a couple with two young children. The twin bedded room was lovely and very spacious, but the double bedded room was small and cramped with little space to walk round the bed. A storage cupboard was adequate for clothes, but the cupboard housing the boiler was also in the room and was noisy at night unless the boiler was turned off completely until morning. The lounge was fine with comfortable sofas and a good supply of DVDs, children's games and reading books available. The kitchen was well equipped. Overall, a reasonable property for the price paid, would not book at a higher price.
