The location of The Buttery was excellent for visiting many towns, villages and attractions. A great place for walking. A lovely cosy cottage, very bijou, beautifully furnished with a pretty private garden and BBQ area.

Immaculate and amazingly well planned. In a beautiful peaceful location, the owner was unobtrusively next door, but very helpful and friendly if needed. You need a bird-spotting guide for the garden and village, never seen so many birds!

A little gem - remote but close enough to drive to to Hawes or Leyburn for supplies - with the added bonus of no mobile phone signal so nobody could disturb us - how fantastic.

We received a very warm welcome off the owner in the courtyard and when we saw inside the cottage it was absolutely fantastic, nothing could have been added to make any improvements, the brochure description was 100% correct. It was very homely and the standard of all the furnishings and fittings was beyond belief. We had a fabulous 4 days there and visited lots of villages and towns in the Dales. I would highly recommend The Buttery to any couple who want to spend a perfect holiday together in the tranquil area.

We had a wonderful time at The Buttery. Clearly a lot of thought and effort went into organising the available space in the best possible way. The property is immaculate and very comfortable to be in. The location is great, and the information leaflets that the owner provides are extremely useful. Being able to use internet was great, especially because there is no mobile coverage. We would recommend The Buttery without hesitation, and would return if/when we have a chance. Our thanks go to the owner, and also to Sykes Cottages who did an excellent job of organising everything.

The Buttery is a small and Bijou accommodation; for all that it is comfortable, clean and well appointed. The kitchen area was small but had all we needed to cook whatever meals we required. The bathroom was very well appointed, both for those who like to shower and for those who like bath. The main room was warm in inclement weather, and you can expand outside in the fine weather, to have a BBQ or just sip a glass or two or three, be it white, red, pink, or amber, whilst taking in the sounds of nature. The area was very good for walking and we enjoyed plenty of those. Of these the walk around Semer Water invigorating and ideal for removing the stiffness of a long drive to Countersett. Another was the walk to Bainbridge, see if you can find the old tank used for communal Wenslydale cheese making in the lane towards Bainbridge. Which brings me to the fact that the visitor must take a trip into Hawes and try the cheese there. Personally I loved the blue. On the downside we did find it very light in the morning with the early sun, and being late May early June that was early indeed. Apart from that we enjoyed our stay here and will probably go back in the future.

Spent a week here prior to our daughters wedding. Close to Hawes for great shopping. Multitude of walking trails nearby for walkers. Cottage was very bijou and cozy. Nicely furnished and decorated. Beautiful setting. We got caught in a big rainstorm one day while hiking, so the only thing that was missing in the cottage was a dryer! Other than that, awesome place to stay.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful peaceful surrounding. Small but has everything you need and is modern and cosy. We are walkers so as a personal preference would have preferred a washing machine rather than a dishwasher( I'm on holiday so won't be cooking!) and somewhere to dry clothes and boots. Also for me the mattress was far to soft. Lots of walks nearby and some you are able to do from the cottage with a car. Several places to eat and all were good. 0

the buttery is a very nice cottage with everthing you need for a great stay. very warm and comfortable with modern up to date fixtures and fittings with everything you need.fantastic bathroom with a good shower or bath ,if thats what you prefer,it is in a great location with nice walks , less than 5 minutes walk from semerwater ,lovely views ,a short drive from hawes with there not to be missed visit to the creamery for their fantastic cheese. the cottage is on the small side , but dont let that put you off because the facilities are more than ample.
