The Coach House description

Holiday home
The Coach House is a superb, stone built, semi-detached cottage, located on a working livestock farm, in the village of Crooklands, Milnthorpe, and can sleep four people. This all ground floor cottage has a king-size double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a twin bedroom (can be super king-size double on request) with an en-suite shower and basin, a separate basin and WC, a kitchen with a dining area, a utility room, a sitting room with an electric fire and a conservatory. Outside there is off road parking for two cars, bike storage, a roof-top patio with furniture and an enclosed patio with furniture and a barbecue. The Coach House is a wonderful holiday base.

Once an important medieval market town, the settlement of Milnthorpe is located in the southern Lake District between Kendal and Carnforth. Just a few miles from the seaside village of Arnside, evidence of Milnthorpe's history can still be found amongst the narrow lanes and historic buildings, illustrating a time before the motor car. Set in lovely rolling countryside, the area also offers many great outdoor activities including the Lakeland Wildlife Oasis with its tropical hall and butterfly house. Dallam Tower and Levens Hall - both of which are historic stately homes with deer parks, topiary and ornamental gardens - provide a great day out for visitors. Other excellent attractions include Leighton Hall, Sizergh Castle, the Great Lakes Aquarium, Windermere and Grizedale Forest – all of which are located within easy reach.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

Electric underfloor heating with electric fire. Electric oven and gas hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, 3 x TVs with Freeview, DVD, iPod dock, WiFi. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot and highchair available. Off road parking for 2 cars. Secure bike storage. Roof-top patio with furniture. Enclosed patio and garden with furniture and BBQ. One well-behaved dog welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 1 mile, pub 2 mins walk. Note: This cottage has wide, internal doors and may be suitable for those with limited mobility. Note: Property is on an A road, some associated road noise may be heard and children should be supervised. Note: Roof-top terrace accessed by a narrow staircase.

It was a very comfortable property, everything was at hand with attention to detail. It was a great location, very central for lots of tourist attractions. The owners were very helpful but not intrusive. We are definitely going to return next year, and hopefully get some better weather, so we can really enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside.

Over the last few years we have experienced a number of cottages, but have to say ,the Coach House was by far the best we have visited. The standard of everything about the cottage was first class, and the owners a joy to deal with. It was also ideally situated for exploring the Lake District. I would recommend this cottage without question.

Simply...FIRST CLASS! Beautifully designed, decorated and furnished to a particularly high standard. Bedrooms and living area were spectacular. Wonderful greeting (and departure) from the owner and fabulous courtesy too. Another great choice of a cracking holiday courtesy of the passion of the owners...and Sykes of course! Thank you.

Having rented holiday accommodation across the Lake District for the past 13 years, I can honestly say that The Coach House excels in every way. The owner has designed a cottage which is outstanding in every way: layout, furnishing, fittings and equipment are all of the highest standard. The position of the cottage is so convenient and the owner of this cottage deserves five gold stars!

July 2014
A fantastic cottage and surroundings. The people who own the cottage were very friendly and helpful. The little boy we took loved the cottage and there was plenty for him to do; there were DVDs, books and toys for him to play with and he really enjoyed the field at the back. We used to walk him across the field to see the barge on the canal and sometimes had a picnic and played football. We all really enjoyed our holiday and would recommend this cottage to anyone.

We were the first group of people to occupy this property so everything was in excellent condition. The owners were lovely, friendly people who couldn't have been more helpful. The decor of the property was very tasteful and of a very high standard. We were greeted with a welcoming message on the kitchen board as well as a supply of coffee, tea milk and cake! We had a fantastic holiday in the Lake District and this superb accommodation greatly added to our enjoyable time. We will certainly recommend this property to friends -excellent value!

Well, my wife & I travelled from the N/East with our two borders to the Coach house for our autumn break and what a relaxing, chilling time we had. Loads of walks to go on, the coach house has been decorated to the highest standard, the shower room is very good as it has a double shower.A boot room to clean the dogs and get your wet cloths of (although it was such good weather my wife got a tan) Great places near by for home made pies, cakes, and only 10 mins away from an Asda. If anyone needs to know where to go for shopping please contact me and I'll give you directions

Just returned from a wonderful weeks stay at The Coach House Cottage in Crooklands. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The cottage was beautifully furnished. Our two Border Terriers enjoyed the secure garden and the stunning walks along the Canal. We have stayed at many 5* cottages before but this truly is 5*. We have already booked again for next year. We look forward to becoming frequent visitors. Very sad that the week has come to an end. June & Shaun Bannon & Jinxie & Lottie :-)

Well back again for either my 3rd or 4th visit and I'm coming back again next year This time just me and my two border terriers, weather good for the first cole days, then a bit cloudy but that didn't keep us in, and as I've been before I know where all the local amenities are, however as I was alone I decided Sunday lunch should be taken in the Croplands hotel, which was a carvery, I called the day before and booked and glad I did as it was packed. This BIG cottage is such a lovely place, I could live here with my two dogs.
October 2014
We stayed with our friends and their dog at The Coach House the first week in October. The accommodation is excellent and the owners very friendly and helpful. The Lancaster Canal was within sight of the cottage and the supermarkets not too far away. There was also a very good bakery in the next village. There are plenty of walks nearby with the Lakes and Morecombe Bay within a short drive. We had an extremely comfortable week and were sad to leave this lovely cottage and can thoroughly recommend staying there.
November 2014
We stayed at the cottage for a long weekend to celebrate my birthday. It was absolutely first class - the photos look great but in real life it is even better. All rooms are very spacious, and so tastefully decorated. The cottage is the best we have stayed in and we would highly recommend it to anyone. It is also well located with the Lake District on one side and the Yorkshire Dales on the other. The hotel across the road does great food and there are lots of other places to eat within a few miles drive. The owners were very welcoming - it was a true home from home.

Well we did come back, maybe the weather was not so kind but that did not spoil our vacation, after 1yr the property has not been spoilt at all we're glad to say. Had a great time, so relaxing, and even the suggestions which we left the last time have been picked up. For those who are thinking of booking some hints and tips 1, Coming out of the farm turn LEFT and stay on this road, after about 1 mile the village you enter on the right has an amazing bakers , pie's sandwiches, cakes & fresh bread, this closes about 1pm but any early sandwich req can be phoned in ahead. Carry on past the village for approx 4-5mile and you come to a Asda store on your right. 2, Come out of the farm and turn RIGHT, just past the Croplands hotel turn RIGHT over the bridge and say on this road for about 4 mile takes you to a small village, park in the square and the local butchers is near buy, again very helpful and great pork pie's or other pie's but also great for any BBQ meat. The walks along the canal are very pleasant and the paths are well maintained. Tips, as I'm a very light sleeper I found ear plugs a god send as in the bedrooms the traffic can be heard if the windows are opened to cool down. To the farmers wife - we hope your lovely husband makes a quick and 100% recovery
