Liked the attention to detail in the apartment. Everything in the apartment was designed to make our stay warm, comfortable and delightful. Everything worked well and was spotless. There were instruction manuals for all the appliances and TV, and there were lots of information brochures for exploring in Cumbria and Northumberland. The best place we have stayed on our two month trip.
Mrs Sarvent

In a convenient location for all walking, sightseeing and exploring. Haltwhistle is a good base with plenty of amenities and good bus and train services. The apartment was very good, clean and well equipped.

The living accommodation was close to ideal. The WIFI in the accomodation was good. The ease of access to Northern Britain that Haltwhistle provided, we had side trips to Edinburgh and Windernere and day excursions to Durham and Settle. The range of provisions, services and activities available in Haltwhistle. The efficiency and regularity of the UK railways. We intend to book again next year, and from Haltwhistle will revisit Edinburgh, and make side trips to Glasgow and York.

Perfect location and comfortable accommodation with easy access to local amenities. Lovely welcome gift from the cottage owners. Everything was provided and spotlessly clean. It was relaxing to sit at the window with a cup of tea and watch the town. We absolutely loved our stay.

June 2014
This was the best equipped kitchen we have experienced. There was enough kitchen equipment, crockery etc. for 6 people even though it was a flat for 2 people. Everything worked and we were welcomed by the owner personally. Nothing seemed too much trouble.
Mrs Nicholls

This accommodation was a gem in the heart of Haltwhistle. It was in the main street with easy access to all services, with Sainsburys so very close as well being just a short walk away. Beautifully clean apartment and well decorated - we would definitely stay here again and would certainly recommend this to other travellers.

Very good accommodation, ranks as one of the best we have stayed in. Convenient location for all we wanted to do and see in the area. Quiet, but right in the centre of the small town, all necessary services and transport on the doorstep.

The location of the property is ideal, it is literally a 2 minute drive to beautiful country side of Hadrians Wall and river woodland walks of Allen banks. Everything you could need is a 2 minute walk i.e. shops, pubs, takeaways, etc. A beautiful property which I would recommend and certainly return to.

November 2012
Superb apartment in an excellent central location in the main high street in Haltwhistle. A great base to explore the area but plenty to do on our doorstep as well - very good pub (The Black Bull) two minutes walk away and plenty of good local shops and eateries. Able to leave the car for a few days as there is a bus stop right outside, and a rail station only five minutes walk away, allowing easy days out to Carlisle and Newcastle.
Mrs Byars

Great apartment which the owner took the time to show us round and recommended best places to eat and drink. Well fitted out and very comfortable. Great walks and good beer and food across the road at the Black Bull - recommend the steak and chips!

December 2014
Nice, very friendly welcome from the owners. Excellent furnishing, spotless accommodation - really everything we needed. Apartment centrally located, quiet, despite being in the centre of town with Sainsbury's just a short walk away. Close to bus stop and railway station with many interesting places to visit nearby and within convenient travelling distance. Local people very friendly. Brilliant weather for the entire stay.
August 2014
This first floor apartment was large, spotlessly clean and the feature bay window allowed plenty of natural light. The kitchen was fully functional with a large dining table and two very comfortable settees to watch the large flat screen TV. The spacious bedroom was clean and comfortable with plenty of storage. The large bathroom was only let down by the smallish shower however there was constant hot water and plenty of towels provided. The apartment was located in the middle of a very friendly town with easy walking to the supermarket and the local (extremely hospitable) pubs. A short walk to the train station makes this apartment accessible to those without a car. This was an ideal spot to visit Hadrians Wall as well countless walks and we would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends and relatives.
June 2014
Set on Main Street opposite the market place very close to shops pubs and bus stop with Sainsburys at the back it couldn't be more convenient we were met by Stella who was very friendly and helpful, there was chocs and wine which didn't last long but thats another story. There are many leaflets on the surrounding area. Everything we needed was supplied in short it could not be faulted. If you want pies you must try Billy Bells just up the road
July 2013
From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. We were greeted by the owners and found gifts of wine and chocolates waiting fo us. They were very helpful and informative. The flat was lovely, sparklingly clean and very well equipped. It was very convenient for shops, pubs and bus stops should you need them. It was central to all the places we wanted to visit, The Roman Army Museum, Vindolanda, the Roman Walls, Hexham, Brampton and other places to numerous to mention. A week was not enough!
January 2014
It was our second stay here in Haltwhistle at the Drover's Rest. A warm welcome again with added touches from the owners. A lovely village atmosphere with plenty of good shops on the high street, all of a good quality with very friendly and helpful people. This time we left the car parked and used the local buses, which were very convenient, if a little expensive. There is plenty to see and do even in the winter here. May have a summer visit soon!

Apart from some confusion finding the place, because the building is not called The Drover's Rest, I had a very enjoyable holiday. The flat was warm and very well fitted up, with a lovely window in the sitting room. The owners, Ian and Stella Hunter, were helpful and friendly. The train station is close, and the bus stop to take the ad122 over Hadrian's wall is five strides from the front door. The local Sainsbury's is just as close. A lovely place.
Miss Barrett

Flat is very comfortable and well situated for travelling around the area as both bus and train are easily accessible. The window seat is a pleasant place to sit watching the world go by! All in all a good holiday destination for visiting Hadrian's Wall.
