The Long Barn was a superb conversion of a traditional barn giving lots of space for the numbers of people it could sleep. Having three generations there for a fabulous Christmas, there was always enough space for everyone to do whatever they wanted. I think the use and availability of space and the way The Long Barn was set out is one of its features that will draw us back again as an extended family.

We had such a brilliant family gathering here. A real retreat in a beautiful and well equipped place. It felt like home. Everything we needed and more. We also loved sitting by the fire watching the steam trains.

The setting was beautiful and the property spacious and well equipped. It was lovely to have the steam trains running past the bottom of the garden. Walks from the house were an added bonus and ideal with our dog.

This is a beautiful property in a marvellous quiet location. It was generous with its space. The heating worked well so we were nice and cosy. It was very well equipped and very good value. We'd hope to be able to stay there again at some point.

This was our second visit to this location, enjoyed the first visit so much we took my brother and sister-in-law with us this time. The remoteness of this cottage is a real getaway. A brilliant holiday cottage in a wonderful location.

January 2015
This was our 2nd visit to Long Barn and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. The place is just perfect to unwind and is located in such an idyllic setting. The under floor heating and the log burners make the place so warm and cosy whilst an ice cold wind was blowing outside. The place is immaculate and contains everything you need. We ventured on several walks from the doorstep and advise the 3 mile circular walk which takes you on a lovely scenic stroll. The owners and the housekeeper were superb. Will be visiting again very soon.

The views were fantastic, and the fact that the NYMR ran along the bottom of the garden was a delight for old and young, which provided us with many happy memories. The Long Barn felt like home. The peace and quiet took some getting used to but this just made the evening more relaxing. Will go again in the future.

We thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful location, watching the steam/diesel trains go by and the accessibility to the coast and moors. Long Barn is a beautiful converted barn with lots of space for six people. Loved waking up to the views of the hills. It's fully equipped with white goods, crockery and cutlery.

The property is finished to a very high quality standard, nothing has been left out and the fixtures and fittings are of the very best quality. There is plenty of space for 4 couples and the kitchen and lounge feels really cosy with the log burners lit. The location is perfect for a relaxed break and if you like heritage railways, having them pass the bottom of the garden only yards away, couldn't be better, For walkers, you are right in the middle of many varied routes and vehicle access is really easy. We shall definitely return to this idyllic property, full marks all round.

We stayed here as a family of 8 + dog (4 adults & 4 children). This barn conversion is well thought out catering to all our family needs. It is set in a beautiful location and the joy of seeing the train pass the bottom of the garden did not fade with both young and old guests. The owners were friendly and helpful both in person and with information that they provided. The only slightly negative is the garden/grass area does still need some work (which the owners are currently working on) but when you have the beautiful views as far as the eye can see it does not take anything away from this fabulous holiday rental. The pictures around the barn walking you through the seasons only added to the romance that I have for this property.
October 2015
This is a lovely recent barn conversion. It impresses as soon as you step through the door. Lovely and cosy with efficient heating. Well furnished with a massive kitchen diner. You can walk straight from the door. The thing that makes it for me is the NYM Railway passing the bottom of the garden. Sleeps eight in comfort with three bathrooms although the downstaires one is quite small. Excellent value off season and cosy whatever the weather. This was my second stay and I have booked a third for 2016.
March 2015
In a nutshell this cottage was perfect! We have had the pleasure of staying in both this cottage and it's sister cottage "The Orchard" and both homes do the owners justice. The cleanliness and the attention to detail are second to none. We will definitely be planning another trip to either of these wonderful cottages many thanks for a fantastic stay.
August 2015
We travelled as a family group including a baby to this wonderful, if fairly remote, barn. Directions were comprehensive and we found the barn easily. It is situated down a gated roadway which was well maintained and no problem for a family car. The property itself is very large and well appointed with everything needed for a great family holiday. There are four large bedrooms, one en suite, and a large family bathroom plus ground floor wet room. There is a lounge with woodburner and a further seating area with woodburner in the kitchen/dining room. Plenty of space for a large group with two TVs at opposite ends of the house. Wifi is available but mobile signals are virtually non-existent. A travel cot and highchair are available but I would recommend taking your own mattress pad as there isn't one available with the cot. The outside space is fairly basic but steam trains do pass the garden on a regular basis throughout the day. The surrounding moorland is a delight and the barn is within easy reach of Whitby and the coast. I would recommend a visit to the Falling Foss tea gardens at Sneaton Forest - reached by foot only and not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.
July 2014
Superbly appointed cottage in a rural location in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park about 1 mile from the pretty village of Goathland. The heritage North Yorkshire Moors railway passes the bottom of the large garden with regular steam trains each day. We stayed with three other couples and there was ample room for all of us, great log burners (they even provide a good stock of wood) a modern kitchen with everything for 8 people including farmhouse dining table/chairs, 2x TV's. Garden furniture was provided and it's set in large well kept grounds, everthing was imaculate, a real 10 out of 10. This property ceretainly lived up to it's description in every way and plenty of parking space, the owners are friendly and gave us lots of tips/info to make our stay perfect, we will certainly return.
