The Old Fire Station description

Holiday home
The Old Fire Station is a detached house in the village of St. Margaret's at Cliffe just three miles from Dover. The cottage sleeps seven people and has one en-suite double, two doubles and one single and a family bathroom. Also in the cottage is an open plan living area with kitchen, breakfast bar, dining area and sitting area. Outside is off road parking for three cars and a paved and lawned area with furniture. Situated in Kent, The Old Fire Station is a lovely spacious family holiday cottage from which to explore this beautiful part of the country.

St Margaret's at Cliffe has long been a holiday hideaway and during the years has been home to many famous people including Noel Coward, Peter Ustinov and Ian Fleming. Some of the Bond books were indeed writen while Fleming was staying at his home in St Margaret's at Cliffe. It is believed he gave his character James Bond agent number 007 after the number of the bus that still runs between London and Deal. At one end of St Margaret's Bay there are a few cottages, two were owned by Fleming, one of which was rented to Noel Coward, the cottages are still there looking out over the English Channel. The coastline above the beaches are The White Cliffs famous throughout history as the a defence against invaders and often seen in films as the first glimpse of English shoreline.

Kent is affectionately known as the Garden of England. Its history and heritage provide the region with a rich array of sightseeing possibilities, while the stunning choice of Blue Flag beaches offer the chance to enjoy the beautiful coastline.

The Old Fire Station is a beautiful place to stay and we felt instantly at home. It was great having a totally enclosed garden in which our dog was safe to play which meant we were totally relaxed during our stay. The owners have gone to great lengths refurbishing the property to a high standard adding some quirky decorations to remind us of the building's original use. Locally, there are some fantastic walks with breath taking scenery and some good dog friendly pubs to quench your thirst!

This was our second visit to this house, we love everything about it. The location is really good with access beaches and other tourist hotspots by car.

The Old Fire Station is an amazing property, it is spacious and extremely well equipped, very comfortable and welcoming in every way. The garden is a good size and very secure for dogs and children too, with high fences to all sides and a super BBQ area with good seating for dining 'Al Fresco.' It's a real sun trap! A great base for lots of good walks along the cliff tops, and surrounding beautiful areas. We will most definitely be returning and would thoroughly recommend this property.

Three generations of our family and the dog spent a lovely short break at TOFS over Christmas. The accommodation is suitable for people of all ages including those with mobility problems. It was very comfortable and spacious. In a peaceful location with a village shop and pubs nearby.

The house was fabulous and the location was brilliant. We are hoping to return in May next year. There are dog friendly beaches all year round and some lovely walks through the countryside. We would definitely recommend visiting The Old Fire Station.
