The Old Stables description

This delightful Grade II listed barn has been sympathetically converted into two holiday properties - a first floor studio and a spacious ground floor apartment. They have been cleverly designed to accentuate the historic features, yet offer a light and airy feel. Formerly stables which would have housed 5 horses during the 19th century, their origins date back to medieval times. Many of the original features still remain, such as the wooden hayrack supports and the sandstone walls. Set next to the owner’s home, in an equestrian setting with horses in stables, this is a beautiful, peaceful, rural location.
The Hayloft (ref W43942) is accessed by an external staircase, and is a compact studio with high vaulted ceiling.
The Old Stable (ref W43943) is a larger ground floor property, with a spacious double bedroom. The open plan kitchen/dining room has a feature stone wall and full width patio doors, which fold open to maximise the superb views across the paddock. The enclosed courtyard garden leads from the kitchen, with sitting-out area and barbecue, the ideal spot to enjoy al-fresco dining, or an aperitif in the warmer months.
Laybrook Farmhouse is close to Thakeham which has a charming pub serving good food, and is a scenic walking area, being part of the South Downs National Park. West Chiltington is nearby, as are many other pretty historic villages and churches. Arundel, with its castle is about a 20-minute drive, and there are various beaches to visit, including Worthing and Brighton, which are within a ½ hour drive. There are lovely walks over the renowned reserve to the RSPB centre at Wiggonholt. Also within easy reach and worth a visit is Chichester, with its beautiful ornate cathedral and famous Goodwood Races for horse or motor racing, Fontwell racecourse and Polo at Midhurst. Other places of interest nearby include Petworth House and Gardens, Parham House (NT), The Weald and Downland open-air museum, and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, which is ideal for bird-watchers. Water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing can be found at the south coastal seaside resorts. Other outdoor pursuits in the area are horse riding, fishing, walking and cycling. Beach 15 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

All on ground floor: Living room with double sofa bed. Dining room/kitchen with patio doors and tiled floors. 1 double (6ft zip and link, can be twin) bedroom. Gas inc. Gas hob. W/machine. Enclosed garden patio with sitting-out area and furniture. BBQ.
