This was a lovely cottage in a lovely location. It was very comfortable and had a great pub next door with good food and friendly staff. It was perfect for visiting the Lakes or the North Pennines or just sitting in front of the fire with a book if you want to relax.

Dacre is a quiet, pretty village not on the main tourist route but near to Ullswater. The School House is a dear little cottage with a good sized garden. We really loved it.

The cottage was very cosy, comfortable and in a beautiful little village very close to Ullswater. Great for touring the Lakes and right next to the village pub, what more could you ask for. Very warm when the fire was going and very romantic for a couple.

Good little cottage, all you need for two people and loved taking my two dogs. Lots of character and right next door to local pub. Would definitely use again.

Lovely characterful cottage, warm and cosy. Ideally placed for Ullswater, and the pub!

The cottage was cosy, well equipped and an ideal location for Ullswater. The Horse and Farrier pub next door did excellent food, real ale and was very hospitable. Dacre is picturesque and sleepy. The little church is worth a visit. The cottage caters for dogs and there is satellite TV for nights in.

Just spent another wonderful week at this cottage, our forth year in a row. The cottage is very comfortable and cosy with a log burner. Lovely garden for our two dogs and the pub next door run by Susi and barmaid Fran was very homely and welcoming and dog friendly. Looking forward to our next visit!

The place is lovey and super clean. In a pretty little village. It did however lack the basics, just 3 tea bags provided (one per day perhaps) no sugar, no hand soap in the bathroom, had to find the bin liners to put in the bin myself. Logs provided but no fire lighters. There was a small welcome note and a (out of date) inventory of kitchen utensils. Maybe I have been lucky in the past when staying in cottages, getting things like sugar provided. Some personal info on the local area and walks would have been useful.

lovely cottage, Ideal for a couple, very well maintained. Great pub next door which is also dog friendly. Great location but easy to get to nearby main routes. Would recommend it to anyone.
December 2012
This is the perfect little cottage for a bolt hole for one or two and a dog. Peaceful village, handy pub next door (the sort you can take the dog in), easy to get to, lovely woodburner and nice decor. The ducks next door were lovely to wake up to! My only negative was the mattress was a little uncomfy - everything else was perfect
