The Shippon Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
The Shippon is an 18th century detached barn conversion within a three acre rural setting in the Conwy Valley. The cottage sleeps two people in one mezzanine king-size double bedroom. There is also a ground floor bathroom, a kitchen, and a cosy sitting room with a dining area and a woodburner. The patio to the rear allows you to soak up the views of the three acres in which the cottage is situated and there is off road parking for two cars. The Shippon is an ideal location for a relaxing break any time of the year.

Conwy is an historic town and has been declared a World Heritage Site in recognition of its architecture and other links with the past. The town is most renowned for its medieval castle and town walls that are almost complete, both of which offer fantastic views of Snowdonia and the estuary of the River Conwy. Today Conwy is a bustling town that caters for both tourists and the local community. Ancient buildings sit comfortably among more recent properties and there is an abundance of places to visit. Top of the list is the Castle, but there are many more, including Plas Mawr, an architectural gem and said to be the finest surviving Elizabethan townhouse to be found anywhere in Britain. Towards the quayside you will find Aberconwy House a 14th Century merchant's house believed to be the oldest townhouse in Wales. It has been carefully restored to reflect the daily life of its residents over time. On the quayside you may enter the smallest house in Britain or visit the Aquarium and Conwy mussel museum. Take a boat trip on the river and see the Great Orme, or sail upriver to see the full beauty of the Conwy Estuary and the Conwy Valley.

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

We had a lovely stay at the Shippon. The owners were excellent hosts. We especially appreciated how pet friendly they were and they took extra time to provide information on pet-friendly establishments in the area. Our dogs really enjoyed the property as well. The furnishings have been upgraded since the website pictures were taken, so it was even better than expected.

Excellent, cosy and romantic hideaway which is nestled in a perfect spot - not too far from the beaten track but isolated enough for that total break. This is a very appealing and comfortable rustic accommodation. It has charm and makes you feel very relaxed. It is well equipped and comfortable. It has a homely, individual feel. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The open plan living lends itself well. only slight draw back would be the number of low beams which I managed to hit with my head several times! Other than that a pretty perfect place to escape the world and enjoy the countryside. Would definitely go again!

October 2014
The cottage was clean and cosy, quite small but perfectly adequate for 2 people. The owner met us on arrival and was very friendly, and even lent us a book on local archaeology, but then left us alone and was not at all intrusive. The kitchen is small but has everything you need. A large basket of logs and coal were provided for the fire, which was set ready for lighting when we arrived. However, the cottage was warm and cosy and we only used the fire once. The site was quiet and peaceful, and made a good base for exploring Snowdonia. Conwy with local amedities is only a short drive away and there are many walks you can do from the doorstep. The narrow lanes leading to the property were not a problem. We were allowed to use the field outside the cottage which was great for our 2 dogs. The resident dog was very friendly and came to visit a few times. The only negatives were the low entrance door, and steep stairs under low beams going up to the mezzanine bedroom. Not a problem for me but my 6'2'' husband banged his head a few times. The cottage wouldn't be suitable for anyone with mobility problems, but is great providing you don't mind ducking your head in some areas. We would definitely visit again.
September 2010
Very friendly and helpful owners of a cottage in a wonderful location. Difficulties with the plumbing were rectified as quickly as possible and they were flexible and accommodating to any requests.
December 2009
the weather was not to good but the cottage more than made up for it, cosy little retreat which maggie(dog) loved, owners were helpfull but did not bother you they were there if you needed them, deffinatley going back. cottage is lovley and cosy everything you need is there, loved the log fire which was lit every night ahh. in all a really really good holiday and have recommended to a few people. marie wayman
December 2009
Our stay was just perfect. So piecefull and traquill, the countryside is beautiful with lovely walks. we'll be back.
December 2009
Lovely small cottage, took some locating, really off the beaten track. quite close to the owners property, but still secluded. lovely locationapprox' 2+ miles out of Conway itself, a good location for either staying there and enjoying the seclusion, exploring the sites around North Wales; Conway, Llandudno, Bodnant Gardens, all of Anglesey, Great. Even though the weather was mixed, still very enjoyable. Property owners very helpful, on hand if you needed information or help. Recommended. Mr & Mrs Trusselle, Wolverhampton West Midlands.
