The Springs Coastal Cottage description

Holiday home
This accommodation is a splendid alternative to the usual Isle of Wight holiday cottages, and is set within the owner's large lawned gardens in a peaceful rural location. The property has been furnished and fitted to an incredibly high standard with a spectacular vaulted pine interior, which provides open plan studio holiday living. You'll be living a life of luxury with the surround sound entertainment equipment, unlimited use of the outdoor heated swimming pool (in season), and a super-king-size bed. You can even order gourmet meals made with delicious local produce from the owner. There is abundant wildlife to spot in the pretty gardens, including rare red squirrels, hares, badgers and woodpeckers. There are beautiful walks to take from the doorstep of the property, and the bustling seaside town of Ryde with its gorgeous sandy beaches, shops and restaurants is close by. If you're into messing about on the waves, head for Bembridge Harbour which offers brilliant boating facilities. Any time of year, this location is a holiday haven you'll never forget.

Also known as "The Gateway to the Island", the largest town on the Isle of Wight, Ryde, has been an extremely popular holiday location since the mid 19th century. There is a huge amount to see and do in Ryde, and it is highly accessible to holidaymakers because of the regular catamaran, ferry and hovercraft transport services. Ryde has something for everyone, including a great selection of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as six miles of gorgeous sandy beaches. The bustling seaside esplanade has plenty of recreational opportunities including an ice rink, tenpin bowling, bowling greens, putting greens, a pretty boating lake and a children's paddling pool and rides. Everything is within easy reach, making this a very stress-free and relaxing holiday location.

The Isle of Wight, with its beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and over 500 miles of award-winning public footpaths is a walker's paradise, or if sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed.

The owner was near should we need anything. The cabin had everything you would need and very cosy.It was set in a field adjacent to the owners house shops and garage not far away.Liked seeing all the wild life squirrels, rabbits pheasant and birds in abundance. We have booked again for June 2011.

The springs is a great place, gorgeous gardens and lovely interior too. We had a great time and enjoyed visits from the owners dog (he's harmless to those scared of dogs!) We went in November which meant that it was a lot cheaper but it also meant that a lot of place we wanted to go to had shut down for the winter (a lot shut on 31st Oct) I would recommend this place to people looking for a relaxing week to get away from it all!
Mrs Naylor

The property was in a very tranquil place, but still close to Ryde, which has improved immensely in recent years. We were treated to the antics of red squirrels and garden birds on the feeders. A very romantic hideaway. The island has so much to offer, even on a poor winter's day.
Miss Bond
September 2010
The cottage was very cosy and extremely well equipped. It is in a very quiet area with lots of wildlife. During our stay we spotted lots of rabbits, red squirrels, pheasants and peacocks. The highlight of our holiday, however, had to be Wilf (the wonder dog as we called him!). The friendliest and most playful dog anyone could wish to meet!

October 2015
Wow I love this place so much. The host Justine was fantastic and could not do enough to make sure all of your needs are met. The Lodge was a real home from home, down to the biscuits on arrival. The dogs Wilf and Dougal were friendly and regular joined us in the lodge. The area is like you are in the middle of nowhere but Ryde is a couple of miles away.We came here because we wanted peace and quiet, We were not disappointed. Behind the house is a delightful little woods. If you go up the hill you will get amazing views of the Isle of Wight. The Wildlife Red Squires, Hare, Buzzards, Pheasants, and the Barn Owl of which I was fortunate to see, but did not have a camera in hand. The Springs is a little Gem and we will be back.
August 2014
this lovely Scandinavian style pine cabin was very comfortable and situated in peaceful surroundings. It is situated in the garden of a country house which was visited by very interesting wild life eg red squirrels and rabbits. It is the only cabin in the garden therefore it is ideal if you want a quiet romantic holiday with privacy. It is situated near Ryde on the Isle of Wight and is ideal for exploring the island. You will need a car to enjoy this property.
February 2015
So many times you visit a place with 5 stars and a luxury tag only to be disappointed. The Springs does not fall into that category. Rated 5 stars it is 5 stars plus. Everything about the accommodation is wonderful. Then there is the bird life. Oh and the red squirrels. Every time you glance out of the windows there are red squirrels, woodpeckers, long tail tits, blue tits etc massing the feeders so thoughtfully provided by Justine, the owner. Take a good camera and binoculars. Sit back with a cuppa or a glass of wine and enjoy.

July 2015
My husband and I first stayed at The Springs in 2014 and booked 2015's holiday when we got back home, that's how much we loved it! It is a very comfortable and cleverly put together cabin that is perfectly equipped for two people. If you are a fan of wildlife then you really shouldn't pass up the opportunity to stay here. The red squirrels are delightful - and are right on your doorstep every day - as are the various birds that visit; pheasants, partridge, green woodpecker, lesser spotted woodpeckers, greenfinches, goldfinches, chaffinches, blue tits, great tits and the very shy jay. It is a perfect get away from the day-to-day grind and gives you time and space to truly relax and unwind. The owner is very friendly and on hand should you need anything, but is respectful of your privacy too. If you can drag yourself away from the antics of the wildlife then seaside towns and island attractions are all within quick and easy reach. Only about 15 minutes away are some clean, quiet and picturesque beaches in Bembridge and White Cliff Bay which are worth making a special trip to. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Springs and will definitely visit again.
July 2013
This is a holiday experience that every nature lover will enjoy. It's quiet and you will find yourself totally immersed in the lives of the beautiful pheasants and the antics of the little Red Squirrels who play and eat nut in the small fruit tree right outside your window. The actual Chalet is just beautiful, offering all the essentials - and some more. The owners are there for you if ever you need them, but leave you alone to enjoy yourself. We just loved the place, and look forward to returning, as soon as we possibly can.

January 2013
'WOW' just about sums up our stay at The Springs. Both myself and my partner normally enjoy holidays abroad but decided to do something a bit different and hire a cottage and our choice did not disappoint. The cottage itself is beautiful with everything you need for a short break (and I really do mean everything-from coffee right down to kitchen cleaner!!). The surroundings are stunning and if you're lucky, you will see an array of wildlife. Being in our early 20's, we wanted to explore the isle of wight and this could be done with great ease as we were so close to Ryde town and much much more. Unfortunately we didn't get to spend much time with the owner but she is such a gem and even offered to pop us into town so we could enjoy a romantic dinner without having to drive. She even posted my partners missing t shirt back to us as it had been left in the cottage by mistake! I would recommend staying at The Springs to everyone and we will 100% go back!!!
December 2012
We had a lovely stay here for a week in the summer - not that there was a lot of summer about! We chose this cottage because of its rural location but central(ish) to the island. In fact we thought the location was absolutely perfect. Not especially easy to find, being up a long quiet lane but well worth the effort. The owner's house is next to the cottage and is entirely secluded. We particularly enjoyed the fact that the cottage was visited by red squirrrels every day and in fact we were sometimes woken up by them scampering across the roof to get at the peanut holders that were so thoughtfully provided by the owner. The cottage had everything you could need by way of kitchen equipment and bits and pieces - dishwasher tablets, cleaning materials etc. Should we visit the Isle of Wight again we would try to come here.
April 2012
Wow what a place!! quiet quiet and more quiet. If you want to get away from the rat race or noisy neighbours then this is the place. The setting is perfect and the wildlife is a mixture of rabbits, red squirrels, woodpeckers ,pheasants all of which visited the garden in which the springs is situated, awsome!! The owner justine and her faithfull little dog wilf coudnt have been more helpfull and friendly. The isle of wight is the perfect place if you enjoy walking and there were walks wright from the doorstep of the springs. Plenty of things to do including a zoo seaside towns a railway and even if you want a little retail therapy head into newport. All in all a great holiday!! 10 out of 10
December 2012
We spent a very relaxing week here. The owner is very welcoming, and the cottage is in a lovely spot.
Sue Greer
December 2012
What a find this place was! So peaceful, and beautifully done inside to a very high standard.Lots of unexpected extras provided. The two little dogs visiting regularly added to our stay - so adorable!
Bridget Smith
March 2011
Despite a few problems, which we sorted out with the owner, this was a delightful, well situated property, close to Ryde (a much improved town) with its excellent cafes and restaurants. One of the highlights was watching the red squirrels cavorting about in the peaceful garden. We much enjoyed our stay, even though the weather was very wet.
October 2011
We had a wonderful week here, very peaceful setting, very spacious and well equipped cottage in the family grounds? Need to be dog friendly if you visit here as Wilf makes himself known! Go there, you won't regret it!
July 2010
very friendly and polite owners very nice property and private
September 2010
Our stay at The Springs was absolutely fantastic. The chalet is well-appointed, spotlessly clean, in a quiet and natural setting yet within easy reach of Ryde and the ferries. We sat out each day on the verandah watching red squirrels, rabbits, woodpeckers and kestrels in the garden - 5 red squirrels at once was our record! The owners were very helpful but not at all intrusive. A perfect getaway for two - we'll be back.
February 2010
Rose Cottage is a lovely cosy cottage set in rural surroundings. It's very spacious and airy and a great place to unwind. We particularly liked the natural light that the cottage benefitted from due to it's thoughtful design. We were lucky enough to see lots of wildlife during our stay at Rose Cottage. The owner took great care in ensuring that we had everything we needed, whilst being careful not to intrude on our short break. Due to the time of year we went, we think that Rose Cottage would benefit from some double glazing. Although the cottage was well insulated we found that a lot of the heat just disappeared out through the windows, thus making it slightly challenging to retain a comfortable ambience on very cold days of winter.
December 2009
The location, facilities and hospitality at this property is first class. We stayed here in June and our stay in November was just as enjoyable despite the inclement weather and a cancelled sailing on the way home due to rough seas. Make sure you visit the Havenstreet Steam Railway! Thoroughly recommend this destination.
The Parkers
December 2009
We were welcomedwith a smile and a whole lot of goodies to start off our stay. We were far from the madding crowds but being in the centre of the island we were not too far from anywhere. ON the sunny days the heated pool was most welcome but there was also plenty to do on rainy days. When we go back to the Isle of Wight we would definitely try to go back to the same place
December 2009
Our hosts were lovely, friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable, but did not intrude. The cottage was charming and luxurious. Well fitted out with everything you could possibly need. Everything was to a high standard, stylish and very comfortable. The location was perfect for us. Very pretty surrounding, lovely views, lots of wildlife for interest and so peaceful and quiet. We could relax without being overlooked or bothered by neighbours. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely want to return. Can't think of anything we didn't like. Would highly recommend this place to any couple looking for a quiet getaway with a touch of luxury.
