The cottage allowed us to go to places we wished to visit. It made a great base for the week. It was well worth the money and I would stay there again.
Mrs Dent
June 2015
The position of the cottage was brilliant, very handy for quite a range of places to visit. The actual cottage was spotlessly clean and the kitchen appliances were more than adequate, in fact, a home from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be staying again sometime.
Mr Hibbert

A beautiful cottage, and the field opposite for dog walking was absolutely brilliant. Had a lovely relaxing time, perfect.

A peaceful and tranquil cottage, sitting as it does in such remarkable surroundings. The opportunity for dog walking was great in the young established woodland, or along the lane taking in the expansive views and observing wildlife such as barn owl, hare, roe deer and a plethora of garden and farmland birds. The bedroom and bathroom were particularly comfortable and relaxing. A great opportunity to spend quality time with our dogs too.
Mr Bradshaw

Owner was very welcoming, great cottage, fabulous grounds.

This ticked all of the boxes for us, well situated, well appointed and very clean. The owner was very accommodating, although quiet and unobtrusive. We liked everything about this holiday and would certainly visit this particular cottage again in the future. We have already recommended it to friends.
Mrs Kelk

A charming simply furnished traditional cottage in a very picturesque location, with off road parking.

Did not need to travel far, to find lots of brilliant walks for the dogs. Very central to the coast and forestry walks. Really relaxing and quiet, we could walk miles and not see any people. Lots of places where dogs could be off lead. Particularly liked the way the beaches were sectioned off as dog friendly and dog free. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be going back to that area as loads of places/walks we did not get a chance to do, all three dogs were exhausted by the end of the week.

Lovely cottage in good walking area, but with close proximity to places if it rained!
September 2013
We had a very relaxing holiday and would definitely return again. The cottage was always warm and having the wood to walk the dog in was a great plus.

Overall the property was excellent, in an excellent quiet location with easy access to popular locations. The moors are a favourite of ours!

Lovely cottage in a very peaceful location. Extra benefit of field/woodland across the road used as a dog walk.
Mrs Richardson

Beautiful setting, quiet and peaceful with the right weather would have been a wonderfully peaceful holiday but weather let us down badly and so spoilt the whole experience.
Mr Holmyard

We liked the remoteness of the cottage. It ensured peace and quiet at all times. It was within easy reach of interesting walks and the beach for walking the dog in the evening.

Perfectly placed for us to visit some amazing places in the area. The cottage was perfect for our chill out and recharge batteries holiday. Photos on website do not do this cottage justice.

Mr Allsop
August 2012
We liked the enclosed garden - good to relax in and safe for our dog Millie to run around. The cottage was a good base to visit nearby towns. There was plenty of room upstairs for our shoes, toiletries etc. Would like to stay again in the future.
Mrs Currie
July 2012
This was a lovely, peaceful location to stay in. The cottage had everything we could wish for and the little touches, such as providing maps and leaflets concerning the local area proved very useful, despite the fact that we are already frequent visitors to this area of the country. The private woodland/meadow also proved very useful for allowing our dog to stretch his legs.
Mr Myers

Very isolated and quiet. Extremely good facilities in the Cottage. The welcome pack provided was second to none!
Mrs Stevens
August 2011
The location of the cottage was in the national park, so you didn't have to drive long to go somewhere. We went to the sea a lot but also walking and see some historic sites.
Mrs Stephens-Volante
October 2011
We loved this cottage! Everything was of great quality; the rooms, furnishings and log fire, it all added up to real cosiness and comfort. The standard was fantastic. The owner nearby was extremely helpful and friendly. The location is beautiful. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.
September 2016
This lovely little cottage is situated in a peaceful setting handy for the moors & the coast. Although the kitchen, bathroom & bedding were clean the cottage as a whole needs a complete makeover. The furniture is not as shown on the website & there is no comfortable seating in the living room, the sofa being so low as to be unusable. There was also an unpleasant smell particularly in the living room which still hung around even after using air fresheners. Even our dog seemed unsettled. Patchy wi-fi & no phone signal. Sorry but wouldn't recommend unless refurbished.
September 2015
The location of the cottage is wonderful, peaceful and ideal for dogs, especially with the option to use woodland opposite. However, the cottage itself is very tired, grubby looking and run down. It could be made wonderful, but needs a complete makeover for it to be worth the asking price we paid to stay there. We paid for 7 nights but only stayed 4 as it was not a comfortable place in which to relax and enjoy our holiday.

This cottage was booked for a quiet week away it had everything we needed, we had an enjoyble break I would recommend to anyone, the owner is a nice chap and helpful. We will book again.
December 2013
An excellent cottage with all the home comforts you need ,the garden and the wood are a great bonus for us dog owners , and we loved the real fire.
December 2012
Rita and I, having recently moved house, needed a quiet relaxing holiday and we certainly found one in Thirley Cotes. It's off the beaten track yet charming and close to amenities and Scarborough - Whitby's not far either. Inside it's very good with an excellent kitchen and bedroom, the lounge is comfortable but a bit basic. The bathroom is also very good but needs a shower spray for ladies who wash their hair (which is all of them all the time!). I recommend it.
December 2012
Was very impressed with the cottage, the photos didn't do it justice. The owner was extremely pleasant and helpful but didn't intrude. The cottage was cosy and had all that is necessary for a comfortable stay. Plan to stay there again next year if possible.

This is an ace base to do as little or as much exploring of the area as you like. Very dog friendly, all in all great value too.

This is a wonderful cosy cottage in beautiful countryside. Although in a quiet hamlet you are not far from Whitby and Scarborough so it's a perfect base. It is dog friendly and even has a private woodland for you to exercise them in. The spotlessly clean cottage met every imaginable need, even providing board games, books etc and some very helpful leaflets about the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
March 2012
Phoned the owner Re collecting the key as due to work commitments we couldnt get there till late on the Friday . The key was duly left 'under the plantpot '!! calassic ! On entering i was more than happy with the cottage . A very well equipped kitchen , nice cosy living room with a comfy sofa . A very nice bedroom and a fab bath room , well worth the moneys paid . The location is a bit off the beaten track , perfect if you are after some quiet time , but having said that its only a 15-20 min drive to scarborough .
December 2011
We loved this cottage, everything was comfortable and good quality with lots of attention to detail, and the open fire topped it all off beautifully. The surroundings are just really breathtaking and a great escape from the big smoke. Hope to come again! Bobbin the pup loved it too.

July 2016
The peaceful surroundings and the quirkiness of the cottage. Loved the exposed brickwork and beams. The bed was extremely comfortable. The garden was a sunny haven and although the cottage is quite remote, it was easy to get to Scarborough and other places. It was a most enjoyable stay.
