Topsy-Turvy Cottage Pet-Friendly Cottage description

Holiday home
Topsy-Turvy Cottage is situated in Worton near Askrigg. With two ground bedrooms, a king-size double and a twin, it sleeps four comfortably. There is also a ground floor bathroom. The living accommodation is on the first floor and consists of a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room with electric fire. Outside there is a small, walled gravel patio to the front with furniture and also off road parking for one car, with potential additional parking for an extra car a short distance away. Topsy-Turvy is a great cottage for walking in the area, and also for exploring Wensleydale and Swaledale.

The beautiful village of Askrigg is set in stunning Wensleydale. Askrigg is known to many as the home of Skeldale House where vet James Herriot lived in "All Creatures Great and Small." This breathtaking area is home to many beauty spots including Aysgarth Falls and nearby Semerwater, Yorkshire's only natural lake, which was formed (so legend says) after a weary traveller was refused hospitality from a raging storm by the villagers and so cursed the village to a watery end. There are castles at Bolton and Middleton, the spectacular Hardraw Force, England's highest single drop waterfall at a height of 99 feet and many other market towns and villages to discover. Askrigg is a wonderful village from which to discover this magnificent area and makes a great holiday base.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Oil central heating with electric fire. Electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, TV with Sky, DVD, CD, WiFi, selection of books, games and DVDs. Fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Travel cot and highchair. Off road parking for 1 car, additional roadside parking for 1 car. Small front gravel patio with furniture. One well-behaved pet welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shops 1.5 miles, pub 3 mins walk.

The property offered everything and more that you could possibly wish for. It was extremely clean and well presented, with comfy beds and furniture. As the title suggests, 'Topsy-Turvy Cottage' is built with the lounge and kitchen upstairs, giving excellent views over the valley. The location of the cottage is ideal for exploring the surrounding Yorkshire Dales.

The cottage was in a great area with walks from our doorstep and the countryside was beautiful. Amenities were nearby, good pubs for food etc. and locals were friendly! The cottage itself was in pristine condition - the best we have stayed in for quality of furnishings and condition.

The high quality fixtures and fittings and cleanliness were superb, even washing up liquid kitchen rolls were provided. To have sky TV WiFi was a bonus. The cottage was well positioned for touring about the Dales. We would definitely consider returning at some time in the future.

A delightful upside down property with lovely views from the kitchen lounge, with superb walks straight from the front door. Great local bus service on the doorstep with Askrigg a short ride away or a pleasant walk.

March 2014
Topsy Turvy cottage was cosy, well furnished and warm. The double bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Everything was spotlessly clean and the welcome tray with tea and biscuits was a nice touch. A great base for walks in the area. We would definitely stay again and also recommend to family and friends.

This cottage was by far the most comfortable, warm and welcoming one we have ever stayed in. The location was ideal for walking straight from the door, with the village of Askrigg an easy saunter across the fields. Dog-friendly pubs everywhere we walked - couldn't have asked for more!

Lovely little cottage that served our needs very well. Extremely well presented with excellent views and amenities close by. The owners obviously care passionately about customer service and this is reflected in the overall condition and maintenance of the property.

July 2013
Topsy-Turvy Cottage was all that we had hoped for, absolutely wonderful. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had all the comforts of home. It was very peaceful listening to the birds, and we enjoyed the beautiful views and wildlife just outside our doorstep. There are footpaths nearby for a lovely walk. The cottage is located very close to Hawes, which has a lot of very nice shops, a museum, and a weekly market. It was a great place to stay to explore the Dales. We stayed for a week and wished we had more time. We would definitely stay here again.
Mr Foulds
June 2013
Wonderful cottage in a lovely area with good local amenties, magnificent scenery, wonderful walks, good local attractions and local foodstuffs, a variety of birdlife and helpful/friendly local inhabitants.
August 2014
Very high quality cottage in an excellent position for touring the Dales. The best beds we have had in a holiday cottage. Not really suitable for an old dog due to the upside down layout as the steps are steep.

Brilliant holiday cottage The cleanest most comfortable cottage we have stayed in, in 12 years. Comfiest beds Fab location Only downside for us , and this was our fault for not researching properly was the lack of a child friendly garden or green space in village for kids to play in.
October 2013
The cottage was very well equipped and in a great location. The owners had provided the essentials that sometimes you don't get with holiday rentals. Worton is a great location for visiting Wensleydale and Swaledale. We particularly enjoyed the short walk across the fields to askrigg to visit the Deli, the shop and the Crown Inn.

This is a lovely, well fitted out cottage (with WiFi) situated in Worton, Wensleydale and giving convenient access to open moorland and wild life. Wensleydale Creamery is a must visit (the best cheeses), the rope manufacturing factory in Hawes is interesting as are aysgarth Falls and the River Ure valley. The Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton is a recommended eatery (other pubs in the Hawes area less so). The museum in Hawes is worth a look and the Tourist information is excellent. A weekly parking ticket is good value if touring the area by car. Swaledale has a few villages with some interesting local craft shops.

The location of the cottage was lovely; the birdsong, the walks, the meadows at this time of year are gorgeous. We didn't want to leave and will definitely be back.

A really lovely cottage, perfectly located for a week exploring the Yorkshire Dales. It was very clean and tidy and we'll equipped for a family of 4. The topsy turvy arrangement works really well.
