Characterful cottage which worked well with big back garden. Perfectly placed for family wedding in Strensall.

It was like living at home, clean and lovely warm. A very nice place to stay will use it again if it is free when we are back in York.

There was plenty of room for us as there was usually 6 people staying at one given time. We used the cottage as a base as our Grandson was carrying the Olympic torch in the relay.

Tranquility Base is set in a quiet tranquil village, with plenty of attractions to see and explore in the surrounding area. The cottage has been decorated and furnished to a high standard, with all mod. cons. The whole booking was hassle free and we would have no hesitation in recommending this property to our family and friends.
Mrs Brindley

Lovely cottage very well equipped and presented; pretty village ideal for visiting the area.

Four adults and one infant for our short break. we found everything to our satisfaction and thought the cottage more of a home than a holiday let. Don't book it if you want to park right outside, the road is at a lower level and no space is guaranteed but you can usually find a space within the 25 yards as referred to in the description by Sykes Cottages.

Having had a booking with Sykes Cottages cancelled on us at last minute, this is were we were offered as best next available?! Trying to find it in dark as not allowed to go until 6pm (managed to arrange a little earlier but still in dark) instructions very poor. Parking is first come so well up road so unpacking cars a nightmare! What a terrible cottage. A mess of a lay out. Dirty scruffy is putting it mildly. Never come across a place like it. No towels, no tea, coffee, milk NOTHING! Dirt, thick dust, mild, old broken furniture. Very dirty rugs, soft furnishings everything. Sykes were very unhelpful at trying to move us. No Wifi (we said to Sykes we needed this on search it was included) Little or no signal on all networks. No up to date info on village etc (owner lives away and could not care). Not cleaned properly, previous clients rubbish left in bin, bare floorboards everywhere so noisey and dirty. The most horrid week. Garden dangerous steps and wall. Not safe at all. Do not waste your money.

It's a very long time since the front door was that red! Parking 25 yds away if your lucky enough to get there first. Smells a bit musty and furnishings are very old fashioned, the grass would benefit from being cut, desperately needs weeded and the gate at the top of the garden needs to be hinged! I was sadly very disappointed!

we stayed there in oct wich was cold outside lovely ,warm inside with every think you need for a holiday ..we found the sound travels easy inside being that thay have wood floors ..but we all 5 of us enjoyed our stay ...its in a lovely little village with 2 good pubs but you will need a car if you wish to travel further a field ...
