The owner was very friendly and helpful with all our requests and even brought us extra wood for the fire because the shops were shut on New Years Day. Any villagers we met during our stay were also friendly and helpful. All three pubs in the village were dog friendly and the food at the George was large portions and good value for money. The local butcher (just three doors away) sold excellent produce at reasonable prices. We would definitely go again!!!

The beds were very comfortable and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We like the fact of the open fire. The Kitchen was well stocked for cooking your own food. The Lounge is a comfortable relaxing area after a long walk. Youlgrave has plenty of good walks and great scenery around and ideal place for dogs.

We had a wonderful holiday at Turret Cottage. The owners were very warm and welcoming. The cottage was very cosy and well stocked. This was our first visit to the Peak District and we found the village of Youlgreave was ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside. We wished we had discovered the Peak District 20 years ago as the scenery is absolutely stunning - we will certainly be returning soon.

We were very comfortable in the cottage and appreciated the dedicated parking space, as the road gets very congested being a small village.

Turret Cottage is located in the middle of Youlgreave, an attractive village with good amenities. Its position makes it an ideal starting point for walks through the beautiful rolling countryside. The property is a short drive from tourist attractions such as Matlock, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. The owners, who live next door, are very friendly and helpful.

Is was good that I could take my two dogs as there was plenty of lovely places to walk them on the doorstep. The cottage was cosy and had a nice enclosed garden to sit in weather permitting. The village had three pubs so if wanted to eat out had a choice. .

A delightful cottage in a delightful setting, with a very valuable parking space off road. Very well appointed, with everything you need to actually live there for the week and not just a place simply to sleep. Useful WiFi. Very family friendly setting, with a lovely garden to use. Very little to fault if anything.

I loved how comfy the bed was. The cottage was perfectly located for some fantastic walks and scenery less than a minutes walk away. The owners were really helpful, but also knew we wanted to escape, so left us alone. Will definitely return again.

Having visited this area for the first time We were pleasantly surprised and had a most enlightening week we visited places like The devils cavern The twisted spire and the dam busters film location We also found out how to dress a well and overall had a good time the cottage is lovely but not to everyone's taste we were welcomed with our well behaved dog in most places and would recommend it to others and go again The landlady was lovely and most helpful and we were able to get our food in the village with THE FARMYARD pub coming out on top by a long way

Secure shared garden for you and your dogs lovely welcome from owners who look after you and give you some local knowledge great big homemade cake on arrival and fresh flowers . Check out the butchers some lovely pastries. We would definitely stay again.

The homemade cake presented to us by the owner was particularly welcoming and set the tone for the friendly hospitality provided throughout our stay. The fixtures and fittings in Turret Cottage may not have been absolutely pristine but everything worked and overall the property was in a very clean and tidy condition. The cottage proved to be an excellent centre for exploring the highlights of Derbyshire which included walking through the dales around Youlgreave and visiting nearby Chatsworth. We enjoyed our visit!

We enjoyed a weeks stay in this lovely cottage. Its small and cosy but adequate for a family of 4 to enjoy. the location is superb for local walks and withing easy walking of local pubs and the village shop is next door! bakewell is just 10mins away and buxton only 25mins. Alton towers is an easy drive as well. Overall cant fault this cottage, lovely owners made you feel very welcome too.

August 2014
We found this property a big disappointment and nothing like the quality we have previously experienced with Sykes Cottages. It was all very tired and the carpets grubby and contrary to the listing, no fridge/freezer, just a small fridge with ice box, neither was there the promised patio. The bathroom is in dire need of updating, no towel rail, no toilet roll holder and no facilities for toiletries, unless one counts a ledge where the pipes are boxed in. Although the garden has a pleasant grassed area, it can't be seen from the cottage, the only view being of a builders tip and 20 feet wall at the back and the road through the village at the front. This is not the fault of the owner, but is not what is expected from a "country" cottage. On the plus side, the bedding and crockery were clean. A lovely village, with pubs and small shops, in a picturesque setting but, unfortunately, the accommodation was a let down. Luckily, the weather was good. I'm sure the cottage is fine for those who like walking with their dogs, but not for us.

A lovely cosy cottage which was well equipped, nice and clean. Had comfy beds and had a lovely friendly welcome from the owner who gave us some knowledge of the village/walks etc. In a great location with three local pubs which were all very friendly and a great butchers, their pies were to die for. What more could you want on holiday.
