Two Tees description

Holiday home
This charming, detached house is situated in the hamlet of Swanwick on the edge of the Peak District National Park, just eight miles from Matlock. Set back from the main road, the property offers a comfortable, spacious touring base for up to five visitors. Boasting traditional furnishings and a conservatory overlooking the patio and rear garden - ideal for summer barbecues – the property has three bedrooms and makes a wonderful home from home for a family or a group of friends. The local amenities are within easy driving distance, whilst many scenic walking routes can be reached from the house itself.

Situated in the parish of Alfreton is the small hamlet of Swanwick, located just a few miles from the main motorway links and on the very edge of the Derbyshire Dales. With good access to the scenic countryside and excellent walking trails, as well as the market town of Alfreton - named after Alfred the Great - the area is popular with visitors and provides a good base for exploring the Peak District. Matlock, set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent, has been attracting visitors to the area since the installation of a spa there in the late 17th Century. With a selection of excellent restaurants and traditional pubs as well as attractions such as Gulliver's Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum, visitors will be spoiled for choice. Visitors can enjoy wonderful days out to Chatsworth House, take the cable car ride at the Heights of Abraham, enjoy a picnic by Carsington Lake or explore the lively market town of Bakewell.

The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.

The property was so well equipped and en route to everywhere a tourist would want to visit. It was really clean and felt homely after just a short while.

This was the second time we had stayed. For a 3 bed detached, it is excellent value for money. Our aim this time was to visit the National Trust properties in the area and Sherwood Forest. Last time we visited the Peak District, it is convenient for all these places. There is a Co-op within 5 minutes walk and Tesco or Sainsbury's within a 10 minute drive. All very good for a low cost family self-catering holiday. The owners next door are always very friendly and helpful.

The property is well maintained with all necessary guides such as where the pubs were and where to eat out etc. The Gate Inn was good. It was central to visit so many places. The owner was very helpful but not intrusive. Would recommend to friends and family. Even though we went in November we still had really good dry weather.

June 2006
Within reasonable distance of local shops, sights, and countryside. Some good local walks. Well appointed and comfortable house. Very helpful owners. We had an enjoyable restful stay.
June 2016
The furnishings were very dated and tired with a rather unpleasant smell in the downstairs rooms. The bed linen and duvets had seen better days, very cheap and worn. It was unusual not to have anywhere to hang coats in the hallway, especially with the wet weather in that area. The front bedrooms are affected by the road noise, however the backrooms are fine although the window openings leave a lot to be desired...... The location was not ideal for walking or for eating out, you would have to drive a distance to find a pub that served food. On the plus side Leabrooks fish bar, a very short walk away, served beautiful fish and chips. That aside the owner, who lives next door, was very friendly and did check we were ok.

This is the third time that we have stayed here, and it never fails to please. Its spacious, comfortable and well equipped. The house is always clean and wonderfully presented whenever we arrive. It's an ideal base for anywhere in the Peak District, Yorkshire and anywhere else that you may wish to visit, and is an affordable place to stay without scrimping on facilities.
March 2012
It was well looked after and clean. It suited our needs as a base to explore. The pub down the road was good. Owner and his wife very welcoming and helpful. A good walk was quite close by.
September 2012
due various things, I forgot week I had booked but the owner and Sykes rebooked me at no cost and no hassle. Not what I had expected from business these days. Found it easily but the entrance is easy to miss and went past it a few times. Had a warm welcome. Off road parking good. Nice kitchen and great country views from the dining room. Lounge comfortable and cosy. Good size bedrooms with very comfortable beds. Basin in bathroom was small but good bath and shower. Lovely garden and conservatory for peace and quiet. Can hear the whistle from the steam railway nearby. Convenient access to main roads and motorway to get about. All the main supermakets convenient.

June 2016
In a very convenient location for places of interest in both Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. The owner is very friendly and very helpful. It was beautifully clean and had all the facilities we needed. If you are just wanting to travel locally there is a bus stop very close by and food shopping is within walking distance. I would recommend it to anyone and would happily use it again.

On arriving, the house was spotless and welcoming. There is a large back garden to take advantage of and the views out the back are lovely. Sightseeing in the area is easy as motorway and rural roads are very easy to access. It's a great place to stay!
