The owners were most welcoming. We particularly enjoyed the remote location and the stupendous views from the conservatory. A wonderful week!

November 2014
Stunning view from the cottage, with some glorious sunrises to enjoy from the window during breakfast. Loved the conservatory and wood burner. Enjoyed watching the local wildlife from the window; squirrels, a host of pheasants, rabbits and birds and the commute through the rush hour traffic every morning, or trying to get down the lane avoiding the sheep was always an adventure! Excellent array of information provided in the cottage of things to do in the area, guide books, maps, menus and what the local towns and villages had to offer, which we used.

We have just returned after spending a week in beautiful and peaceful countryside. We experienced all four seasons in the week, ranging from hot sunshine to a snow blizzard and we loved it! The cottage, TY BACH, is maintained to a very high standard with excellent facilities. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we will certainly be staying again.

My partner Mike and I were looking for a weekend retreat, an escape from the city, somewhere pretty and rural but not too far from the beaten track. We found a lovely little holiday cottage, Ty Bach, near Maerdy. It was a delightful little detached cottage which has recently been refurbished with one double bedroom and a modern, fully equipped kitchen with dining area plus a shower room. We enjoyed exploring the area which offers the most amazing scenery. After a day's walking and some hearty pub fayre, we came back to the cottage and sat outside on the decking enjoying a bottle of wine. It was a really clear night and so tranquil. We just sat there for ages looking at the lights twinkling on the lake. The cottage is small but perfectly formed and offers a complete escape from the hustle and bustle. It is ideally located for exploring the Welsh countryside which offers great walks, loads of outdoor pursuits and country pubs. The town of Bala is just a few miles away which offers a good range of amenities. We will be back!

August 2013
Stunning location for a complete get away from it holiday, yet so much to do in the local area and beyond. The cottage is cosy with all the amenities you need, and very helpful, friendly owners. Being off the beaten track made the cottage so peaceful, but good road links made all of this part of Wales within easy reach.

An excellent, modernly fitted cottage, with charm and character. Set in a beautiful rural location. Yet still close to the A5 for easy travel. The owner is also very helpful and friendly.

After a really hectic 2 weeks following our wedding we really needed a quiet and relaxing escape. This cottage was perfect for what we wanted. Cosy with amazing views in a beautiful part of Wales! The owners made us feel extremely welcome even before we arrived and were helpful, yet completely unobtrusive throughout. They weren't joking when they said it was a difficult farm track to get up though! Highly recommend using something with high ground clearance to get there. Would also recommend a pair of slippers for the curling up in the conservatory as the rest of the cottage has wonderful underfloor heating and you can really feel the difference! We had a wonderful time at Ty Bach and would love to return in future.
April 2015
Fantastic cottage, if you want to escape the stress and strains of life... Amazing views overlooking the Welsh countryside, beside the log burning stove. The owners Rosie & Julian are very friendly and make you feel welcome :) A perfectly located T? bach in a gorgeous area, with a proud display of heritage and local history. This little house offers something for everyone :-)

We enjoyed the quiet - no sound of traffic. We also enjoyed the wildlife and birdwatching.
January 2013
If you are sick and tired of the noise and stress of the place where you live this is an ideal getaway cottage. Its peaceful and quiet with beautiful scenery around.
January 2014
Lovely little cottage set on side of a hill, views of so many hill peaks. Free to roam round owners land. The owners, Rosie & Julian make you feel most welcome with help & advice, the dog & kids are adore-able too!! Even though we went when all the storms were battering the welsh coast the conservatory with its log fire was the ideal place to curl up with a book & a glass of wine. The only noise that broke the silence was the occasional jet fighter from raf valley going by & the gunshot of people shooting at pheasants(from what we saw the birds had the upper hand!!) Would definately go back again for a complete wind down.
