We were a group of six, two couples and our young adult children who stayed at this lovely cottage over Christmas.
We were touched that the owners had taken the trouble to have a Christmas tree and decorations put up for us. The cottage was warm and clean and I loved the powerful hot showers.
One of the main reasons for booking here was that they had a hot tub. We thought the kids especially , would enjoy spending time in it. That turned out to be a real disappointment . Being a wood fired hot tub, it takes more than two days to heat and a LOT of wood. We eventually managed to get it up to lukewarm and sat in it for about 15 mins before it started to cool rapidly again. The hot tub probably works well in warmer weather but in the winter, I don't think they should even suggest that the tub be used. The time and energy that went into getting the tub heated was just not worth the effort and now, three months after our stay, that is still a niggling memory. I emailed the owners about it and they replied that they would be making some improvements.
The cottage is walking distance from the coastal path. We were able to fit in some fabulous
The other thing I found really odd was that there was no tea pot! Apparently, guests frequently break the tea pots so they stopped stocking them. Making six individual cups of tea was a pain. We bought a metal tea pot and left it there. For the price of the rental, I would think frequent replacement of something like a tea pot shouldn't be a big deal.
In short, it is a lovely cottage and I would recommend it- but know that wood fired hot tubs and winter don't match up. Their prices ought to reflect that too.
Another thing that I found rather
