The location of the cottage was close to most of the places we wanted to visit and yet very peaceful and well away from traffic. We only saw a couple of cars each day down our lane. The garden of the cottage was very extensive and full of flowering shrubs. The smell of the azeleas was wonderful. We enjoyed the wood burning stove in the evening and the peace and quiet of it all.

Simply the cutest little cottage! It was well equipped, cosy and comfortable. The perfect getaway from it all. A rural retreat in a lovely location with a nearby shop for supplies, pubs, beaches and mountains. Everything we wanted for our New Years break away.

The cottage was amazing. Very comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. It had loads of character and the garden was a great place for our 8 year old to explore. We enjoyed being able to sit outside and relax in the secluded location. Information and contact from the owners was excellent. I would highly recommended this charming cottage.

It was very quiet with a great garden in a fantastic location, only about 3-4 miles from the coast's to both the North and South with easy access to the coast on the West. The property itself was a great base with all the facilities you would expect, all in working order. A lovely cottage set nicely in the surroundings. It all would have been a perfect relaxing holiday anyway (would love to go back) but really helped by having great sunny warm weather. Great communication with the owners, providing lots of details about the cottage and who to contact if any issues did arise.

This cottage is perfect if you want to get away from everything. The cottage is perfectly set in the countryside with the nearest signs of life a car ride away. Nefyn beach is close by and is beautiful. The cottage is styled perfectly. We had an amazing family get away. Getting back to nature and spending time together. We will definitely be visiting again. The owners are really helpful and only a phone call away. If you want peace, comfort and relaxation, Visit Upper Lodge!!!

Myself, my wife and our two daughters (4 yrs and 8 months) have just returned from a weeks break at the beautiful Upper Lodge in Boduan. The cottage is picture perfect set in it's own pretty and sizeable garden (perfect for our 4 year old to play to her heart's content) down a secluded country lane. The nearest neighbour was about half a mile away making it perfect for a peaceful getaway (or at least you don't have to worry about your screaming kids bothering anybody). The only sounds are the birds twittering and the babbling water of a stream that runs on the other side of the lane. The cottage has been tastefully decked out and has all the amenities and comforts you would expect for a family or couple. You can cosy up in front of a wood burning stove in the living room on an evening or enjoy a home cooked meal in the lovely dining room. If you do venture away from the perfect peace of the cottage you are in very easy drive of the lovely beaches of Abersoch and Llandbedrog. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back for a return visit.

My husband and I, daughter and granddaughter spent last week at Upper Lodge. We really enjoyed getting away from it all, and this cottage set as it is down a very quiet lane, gave us all the peace and quiet and privacy we were looking for The cottage itself is quite spacious, especially the lounge and dining room and the garden is very large and interesting with several seating areas, and a swing which we all enjoyed using. There were many flowering shrubs in the garden and lots of birds for my granddaughter to observe, as she has recently become very interested in ornithology. Although the cottage is adequately heated we did light the the wood burning stove some evenings which kept us warm and cosy.. All in all a lovely cottage in a lovely area.

What a pleasure it was to spend a whole week in this fantastic cottage. First off let me say that the owners contacted, checked and provided in advance so much great information (arrival details, location etc.) That I could not help but be impressed and happy with all the arrangements. This gorgeous cottage is set off a quiet road, in lots of space and no-one around. Perfect, quiet , very peaceful and relaxing. With ample parking (enough for most probably 3 cars), you drive up and it looks as good as all the photos show. A lovely single storey cottage, plenty of room, plenty of space. A wonderful garden, yes the property is set among this large garden surrounded by all the trees with plenty of space to explore and great areas to relax, eat or just pass some time away if you are staying at the cottage. Due to the weather being perfect (Sunny and hot all week) we never had a need to try out the fire in the main room. But it was a great room to sit, relax and chill at the end of the evening. Everything we needed was available in the Cottage. Now as great as the cottage is and it's perfect quiet location. The other fantastic thing about staying at Upper Lodge was how close it was to places to go in the area. Pwllheli was 10 minutes away, Abersoch and its great beaches and Marina (watersports) under 20 minutes. Criccieth and it Castle under 25 minutes. Not forgetting (and we will never forget) the amazing beaches just 10 minutes to the North at Morfa Nefyn. Really beautiful bay. And these times are not rush at 70 mph to get to the locations. They are pleasant gentle rides along the coast. So take your time, relax and enjoy getting to these places as much as relaxing when you get to them. Plenty to see and plenty to do, if you do want to travel out from the cottage. And a welcoming great cottage to stay in even if you don't fancy travelling out as much. We were really torn between sitting in the garden relaxing in the sun, or down to the beach. But the amazing local beaches in the sunshine just won out, knowing we got to relax in the evening in the peace and quite of Upper Lodge. Please do remember to take bottled water! as due to how the water is sourced at the cottage the tap water isn't drinkable. This is not a problem as long as you do a little planning. But with plenty of local places to shop, it is very easy to pick some up. Really hope we get the chance again to come back and visit / stay. Great place, great location and a perfect way to unwind, relax and switch off from the general hustle and bustle of everyday life. Thanks for letting us stay at Upper Lodge.

Right from booking the property we were given clear and useful information from the owners. Getting there was relatively easy with the detailed directions provided, and the keypad actually felt more secure than collecting a key. We chose the Upper Lodge for it's secluded location (as a band planning to rehearse and compose music while visiting, this was essential) and were literally blown away on arrival - it could not have been a more beautiful and characterful cottage in such a lovely little clearing! We experienced fantastic weather and made full use of the garden (eating breakfast out on the picnic table and sitting at the back of the garden with the large swing), as well as travelling to nearby Abersoch to enjoy the beach (again, completely unspoiled and picturesque). We were a group of 4 and comfortably shared the building, and especially enjoyed the ample dining space and sitting room (complete with wood-burning fire!). It was very well-equipped and furnished in a homely manner (unlike a lot of other scarcely-furnished holiday apartments), and there was nothing that wewanted or felt wasn't provided. However DO remember to take bottled water! It was easy to get dehydrated out in the sun all day and the tap water isn't drinkable. We are already keen to return next year and I could not fault this great little holiday home nor the owners.

Just back from this Middle Earth lodge. Feels Gandalf could come stooping through door at any moment, attracted by the woodsmoke from solid fuel stove. No orcs in vicinity, in fact, we never saw another soul for three days. We were lucky with weather, as three years ago we would have been ankle deep in snow. But, it is so sheltered; winds may howl; they are not felt in this deep dale. Your teenagers will be fighting over The Snug. Read the instructions teenagers! Hot water is not on demand! You have to make it happen. This is a lovingly-created 'old lodge' experience. This place has been here for over 100 years. Bring an axe and a lump hammer if you are here outside of cut your own logs. The walk up Garth Boduan is inviting, but should not be attempted by kids -12. Vertiginous. Walk around Mynidd Nefyn is better day. Turn right at top of lane..without car, I mean. Awesome Bilbo Baggins house. You will grow hair on your feet.

This cottage is on a narrow winding road in a very isolated part of Boduan. It took us a while to find the cottage. The property is dark, damp and musty. The windows of the two bedrooms, snug room and the lounge do not open,we were desperate to let some fresh air in but to no avail. The chest of drawers were full of dust and the window frames had not been clean for a while. The main bedroom bed mattress had seen better days. The t.v did not work the first day and the heating the next, but the caretaker was very helpful and fixed them both. The entry system works with a security code, but the out side light only works from the inside. We came in late one night but couldn't see anything to put the code.[panic,panic.] It is not practical for seven people to use one bathroom.however the lounge is nice with wood burning stove, the garden is beautiful with nice view of the welsh countryside. There are also some lovely walks from the cottage..

Booked at the last minute. Though I got it booked during the Christmas time, I would say the rates were still nominal. Never thought will get such a nice and lovely place to stay. Rather saying it as difficult, I would say it was thrilling to reach the cottage. Reached there too late in the night so couldn't find the way. Thanks to Kay who helped us find the way home. She was so nice despite calling her so late at night. The location and the surrounding are exceptionally good and would definitely like to go there again. Would definitely recommend people to stay there. Hats off to Paul and Kay (the owners) for such nice maintenance.

Booked a last minute break and everything went smoothly - no problems at all, owner very friendly and helpful. The cottage has character, efficient heating and a huge garden. Good walks nearby and beaches are an easy drive away. Even the mixed weather didn't spoil things.
