Vetlanda description

Holiday home
Vetlanda is an unusual, detached wooden property within the Badenoch and Strathspey village of Newtonmore has been furnished and decorated to a very high standard throughout. The charming cottage feels both spacious and cosy; the open-plan living space having been divided between kitchen/diner and sitting-area by a woodburning stove. The property can sleep up to six people in a double and a twin room with an additional sofa bed, and offers great views into the pretty village of Newtonmore, location of the popular TV series Monarch of the Glen. Vetlanda is a great location to take a holiday with both friends and family, at any time of year.

The Newtonmore Craft Centre, two award-winning museums as well as several shops and pubs populate this picturesque little village, used to film the popular TV series, 'Monarch of the Glen'. The Newtonmore 'Wildcat trail' is a seven-mile circuit through around the edge of the village and incorporates the river Spey, local woodland, moorland and fantastic views of the Cairngorms. Behind the village the Mondadhilath mountains are a beautiful and fitting introduction to the magnificent scenery of the National Park. The area offers pony-trekking, walking, bird watching, cycling, fishing, mountain biking and many other outdoor pursuits.

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Vetlanda was lovely, nicer than the pictures. It was lovely and warm ,and with logs supplied it was not a problem obtaining wood for the fire. Very clean and tidy with everything needed supplied. The position is very good for a holiday in the winter months being close to the A9 and rail connections. We would definitely recommend this cottage to friends and would love to visit again .

Beautiful cottage! Not our first time visiting and certainly won't be our last! Great location and close to amenities, local attractions and most of all the beautiful scenery and brilliant walks! Vetlanda is an amazing cottage and we would definitely recommend to all we know and many more!

All of the holiday guests prior to us have written about how good this cottage is and they were all correct. Upon walking into the cottage our first experience was one of warmth and light, the whole cottage is spacious and comfortable. The wood burning stove is absolutely wonderful, especially at this time of year. After a day out running, hill walking or cycling it was great just sitting in the evening watching the flames. Lots of thought has gone into this cottage and the owner has kept up with the good work. Good to have a vehicle but this cottage has easy access from the rail and bus routes. There is a large Co-op in the village and there is lots to do locally. We will most definitely return and look forward to that day.

Vetlanda proved to be a fantastic choice. I would recommend and return without hesitation. Perfect location for all sorts of activities. The utility room great for walking gear when coming off the hill before entering the beautifully warm dining room. Have nothing but positives for this cottage and the welcome from the owner.

Vetlanda was lovely. It was modern and clean but also had a cosy feel and we felt very welcomed by the owner. We had everything we needed. It was in a brilliant location with lots to do nearby and also walking distance into the village for the supermarket and pubs/restaurants.

Property was bright, airy and spacious. It was very well equipped, comfortable and well thought out, great for an active family. The location was excellent, in a friendly village in a spectacular part of Scotland. There were numerous attractions/activities within just a short drive or even a short walk. A holiday in this area can be as laid back or active as you wish it to be. Great for kids and adults alike. Stunning mountain scenery everywhere you go!

Spent a great week, in fantastic accommodation, in a lovely part of Scotland. Arrived to find a well maintained property with everything you could need for a week self catering which was topped off by a tasty chocolate cake, fresh flowers and even fresh milk, tea and coffee etc which was more than welcome after a long ( but well worth) drive. Had a minor issue in the middle of the week but the owner came around within half an hour and made sure all was OK. We'd definitely look to return to this gorgeous place.

Arrived early evening, key easily picked up. Basics available in the larder, milk in the fridge and a lovely chocolate cake ready for consumption - thank you. We were travelling with one year old twins and Naomi kindly organised two travel cots and two high chairs, this was brilliant as it would have been a nightmare to take our own in the car with us. The cottage is very well appointed, with everything you could need including very good wifi. The wood burning stove was available, but fortunately it was warm enough not to require it. An excellent stay.

Just spent a week at this cottage, everything anyone else has said about this delightful cottage I completely agree with and more. It is clean, comfy, warm exceptionally well equipped, excellent value for money, wish we had stayed for two weeks instead of the one, The second cottage we moved to, in another area of scotland, is leaving us a lot to be desired !!! the owners would definitely benefit with a chat from the owner of Vetlanda. Will definitely recommend to family and friends

This cottage was beautifully finished, light and bright, well equipped and very comfortable. The decor was fresh and stylish, just perfect for coming back to after a long day hiking in the hills. We'll be sure to return!

We enjoyed a fabulous week at Vetlanda which an attractive and well presented cottage, perfectly clean and well equipped. We especially liked the woodburning stove which was a lovely treat (even in June). Newtonmore is a good base for exploring the Cairngorms and is a good starting point for many lovely walks itself.

Vetlanda is a really lovely holiday home in the beautiful village of Newtonmore. The kitchen and dining area are modern and open-plan and there is a cosy snug area with an open fire and couches. Upstairs there are two comfortable bedrooms and a lovely modern bathroom. The house looks out onto old Scots pine trees on every side and has a quite patio area adjoining the living room. It's not far at all from the train station and within walking distance of the village. Perfect for a visit to the Highlands!

Lovely open plan downstairs, with excellent decor. Lovely to keep involved with family and friends over for Christmas Day. The log burner was fabulous, and warm....nights in ...perfect...bedrooms good size, and comfy beds. Very clean, and plenty, bedding and towels. Soups are locally sourced and divine ! The owner was on hand and very helpful and very friendly. Her chocolate cake welcome was delicious... This would be excellent for older family, or two couples. Plenty space. Good wifi,. We loved our stay x
