A peaceful and lovely remote setting with stunning views to celebrate our 45th Wedding Anniversary with friends and family. The standard of accommodation and facilities provided - especially the indoor hot tub with panoramic views - were unbeatable. The welcome and attention from the hosts was equally good and visits to the surrounding areas - including the Elan Valley, Red Kite feeding centre, various mountain routes and coastal resorts - put the icing on the cake, so to speak. Highly recommended.

This was an exceptional property. It did exactly what it said on the tin; it was quiet, calm and relaxing. The hot tub was a special treat with amazing views over beautiful country and distant hills. The owner met us on arrival and we knew she was available if we needed her. Thanks for a great stay.

My wife and I stayed here for our 5th Anniversary, we had a wonderful time and particularly enjoyed the hot tub and the wood burning stove. We don't have a car but were pleased to find that there is more than enough walking to do from the property. Overall we had a fantastic time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage.

We had a great time and the cottage was stocked with everything we could possibly want. It is in a secluded place so was very quiet and peaceful. The hot tub is very relaxing and the views are magnificent. We shall definitely be back!

Well proportioned accommodation, very comfortable and welcoming. At the time of year we went it was very cold and we loved to see the snow on the mountains. We put out bird feeders and spent ages just watching the small birds come with red kites and buzzards flying over. Builth Wells had shopping to provide whatever you may need and the local pub was like stepping back in time but very friendly and good food. The hot tub being indoors meant even on the coldest day it was a lovely treat, although the freezing run from the hot tub to bungalow left me wishing I could run faster :) We would love to return in better weather to explore the surrounding areas more, but it was such a treat to just unwind.

First the good stuff. If you are looking for a quiet retreat to get away from it all then this will certainly give you that. As it says in the description there are three bedrooms, a large kitchen with a dining room table, a living room, utility room and hot tub room. There are a large selection of books and games available in the cottage to use. Now the not so good stuff.. The 'Welcome Book' - Lots of errors and crossing out - Seems out of date - The facts on the hot tub page are not necessary for example 'if one person in the party fails to clean themselves properly after toilet use, you are going to be sat in it'. - Note on leaving property clean is ironic (it was not clean when we arrived) - The book says take all rubbish/recycling to collection point when leaving!! (See rubbish) - Would have to take rubbish and keys (to open lock on bin), then come back to drop keys off. There was other people's recycling left when we arrived. * Rubbish - You do not get a dustbin like everyone else in the neighbourhood. - You have to drive for two miles with your smelly rubbish in your car. - The roads around the farm are not good unless you have a 4x4 and we hit the bottom of car taking rubbish. - No mention of having to take your rubbish on website - House next door (the owner) has bins - why does the guest have to drive to take theirs? * Cleanliness - House was not really clean when we arrived, so that was our first job on arrival - Floors were gritty - Dusty in general * Dog - Book says do not leave dog alone in house - thats fine - Book also says do not take dog in hot tub room - therefore you cannot all go in hot tub together - Book says put dog mess in bag and then in dust bin...there isn't one! * Hot tub - Tub for 'cleaning' feet in was dirty on arrival * Water - Not able to drink tap water - No mention of this on website- our daughter was unable to drink squash on first night until we could buy some the next day. * Heating - This is controlled by the owner. We called the one night as we were cold and the heating was not on. The owner told us it was set at a certain temperature and we should wait until it hit the point until it dropped low enough to kick in! In summary this place could be really special but it needs some love and attention. We have stayed in many properties similar to this and would advise the reader to consider others too before booking

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Having had 2 new additions to the family last year in the form of 2 Cockers, our hot, beach, overseas holidays are on hold for the time being hence a 4 night booking at Vrongoch, and we can't believe how much we enjoyed our break! The very informal/relaxed arrival to the unlocked property was extremely welcome as it gave us time to look around. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean & very spacious; the views incredible and the peace beyond description. We live in a very quiet area but the silence at Vrongoch is a whole new level. It's almost surreal to sit outside with a glass of wine and not hear anything (in between the sheep baaa's in the distance!). We cannot recommend this property highly enough, although the existing reviews do this anyway. Would we stay there again? Yes - tomorrow if we could.....

Once again we returned to Vrongoch for a family holiday and were definitely not disappointed. As soon as we arrived and entered this wonderful holiday cottage, which is set amongst stunning scenery in such a peaceful location we remembered why we like it so much. The table in the kitchen, all set for tea was a lovely welcome. We'd not been there long when we received a visit from the owner, welcoming us. We were told not to hesitate to contact her if we needed anything or had any questions during our stay. For the remainder of the holiday we were left to use and enjoy the cottage and its surroundings as if it were our own but with the assurance that help was at hand should we need it. The cottage is superbly equipped to ensure that young or old you have everything you need for the perfect break. From the freshly made beds to the cosy living room it really is home from home. It was so nice to find everything so clean and fresh and, despite dogs being allowed in the cottage it was good to find no trace of any dogs having been there. The hot tub is real bonus with fantastic views and a great place to forget all your worries and cares and lose yourself. You can relax with peace of mind in the knowledge that the owner will come and check the water levels and the chemical balance throughout your stay but without disturbing you. In fact you probably won't even notice that she has been! The garden is lovely and we were blessed with good weather, allowing us to make the most of the lovely garden bench and table. There is an abundance of wildlife and it was great to watch the visitors to the bird table from the comfort of the living room and at night to stand outside and hear the owls calling whilst admiring a sky full of stars. If you are looking for a holiday or short break in this quiet, unspoilt area of Wales, in a clean and comfortable cottage then I would thoroughly recommend Vrongoch - like us, you won't be disappointed.

This is the third time we have stayed at the 1 of the owners cottages and have throughly enjoyed it . We had slight problem with heating and the owner couldn't have been more helpful providing electric heaters and extra wood for the wood burner if required. When we arrived the hot tub room was full of condensation when we informed the owner we were told that the previous occupants had left the lid off the hot tub. Everytime we have been to one of the cottages they have been welcoming and clean, table set with welcoming biscuits, milk and things for the kids. Even though the owner has to visit daily to check hot tub, we never see or hear her. As for the garden, the kids are safe and entertained by the swings etc within grounds. Not sure where the previous reviewer has stayed but does not sound like the same cottage as us. We have enjoyed the stays with these cottages and we go twice a year and already booked both stays for next year already!
August 2014
The welcome as we walked through the door was great-after quite a long journey the sight of a table laid for a welcome brew with complimentary cake as well as tea, coffee, sugar and a pint of milk in the fridge was just what we needed. The cottage is in a very quiet location so you need to plan your shopping well. The view from the hot-tub is stunning. The accommodation and bedding is very clean without being "untouchable". The owner is lovley and even though we were there when the heating is normally off- when it dropped cold she came round and turned the central heating on again. A gesture much appreciated.
March 2014
Stayed with sister-in-law and her disabled husband. It rained every single day but it was still a wonderful holiday due to the home from home feeling of the property. We all felt really comfortable. It was clean and well equipped with a Welcome Pack all laid out on the table for our arrival. We stayed in January 2014 and were toasty warm at all times. Elan Valley is a must even on a wet and windy day. The hot tub was great most evenings and the view from the property is outstanding. We will definitely go back again in more clement weather. The owner was extremely helpful but not intrusive and offered to show us around their farm. We would have loved this had the weather been on our side.
October 2013
We enjoyed a break at this cottage which the owners have made to feel like a second home, there is nothing you can think of that is not there to make you feel comfortable and at home. Lovely clean property with a fab hot tub and views. Only downside was the amount of flies, we went in the summer and maybe as located near a was annoying but hey ho thats the countryside! The hot tub is fab. Location wise it is very scenic and peaceful but quite a distance from amenities. We really enjoyed it and would recommend the property definitely
