Wayside House is the perfect place for a short break, an extended holiday or celebration with family and friends. The holiday property provides bathrobes, has a large games room, fantastic outdoor play equipment and a covered, heated swimming pool with separate wet room and changing room - this property really is a fabulous holiday house, and a perfect rural get-away! Adjacent to the pool is a paved terrace with a gas barbecue, and overlooks acres of rolling pasture and farmland. Across the brick pavure parking area is the annexe suite, furnished with a double bedroom with 5ft bed and en-suite wet room with toilet for an additional 2 guests.
The Virginia creeper-covered traditional red-brick and slate roof exterior hides a stunningly contemporary interior of glass doors, underfloor heating throughout, maple hardwood furniture, double-glazed oak-framed windows, halogen downlighters, light wells and all the trimmings in brushed stainless steel. From here there are views across the beautiful Culm Valley into the heart of the Blackdown Hills. There are electric gates and entry phone.
There is so much to see and do locally when visiting Wayside House. This peaceful group of hills which lies on the border of Devon and Somerset has survived almost unscathed by post-war development. To the north the land rises steeply in a dramatic wooded scarp, while to the south it forms a plateau, deeply dissected by valleys. On top of the plateau lie open windswept spaces, while in the valleys, picturesque chertstone, cob and thatched buildings cluster in villages and hamlets, surrounded by a patchwork of small enclosed fields, and accessed down narrow winding lanes with tall hedgerows. Local pubs serving superb food are nearby including a fantastic local shop and cafe in Culmstock village 1 mile away.
Set in a stunning rural location, Wayside House is the perfect sumptous getaway and guests can even take their horse (at an extra cost), as there is spacious comfortable American barn stabling with full livery (optional) just 5 minutes’ walk away.
