The historic Lakeland town of Kendal sits on the banks of the River Kent, the 12th Century ruins of Kendal Castle look out over the town from its lofty hillside perch. There are many fine eateries and opportunities for shopping within the town, whilst the surrounding area is a paradise for walkers and cyclists and offers a host of other outdoor pursuits. The countryside is a spectacular setting for historic properties such as Sizergh Castle and the Topiary Garden at nearby Levens Hall are most impressive. This area is a superb base for visiting this beautiful part of Britain.

Located in a very convenient position in town for all amenities, with easy access to The Lake District, Howgill Fells and The Dales.

The cottage was clean and inviting and the owners had put a lot of thought into the layout and added extras ie flowers, bread and milk, books games. Ideally situated for visiting the Lake District and very close to shops.

Perfect little retreat for two in the heart of Kendal. We really enjoyed our break and can't fault either the cottage or the location. Kendal is a lovely town.

The cottage was right in the centre of Kendal but down a little lane so was very quiet. The extras that the owner left for us were exceptional. Not only tea, coffee, milk and bread, but also bacon, eggs and a bottle of wine. Brilliant!

There were flowers, bread, milk, wine and all manner of goodies which got us over our arrival and allowed us to settle in in a leisurely fashion without dashing out for supplies. The setting of the cottage was perfect, accessible to the town but hidden away. The area was good for walking and we did a lot of that!
Mr Kibler

The cottage was lovely and there were flowers and wine from the owners waiting to greet us on our arrival, along with the essentials of bread and milk etc. There was plenty of information on what to do and where to go in the area available at the cottage and overall it was a very enjoyable holiday.

November 2010
The scenery and the location of the cottage. It was easy to get out to the surrounding area but also possible to stay in Kendal when the weather was bad. The Abbot Hall art gallery was superb, as were the local restaurants and amenities. The people were very friendly and we had a great evening at a LeRoc venue dancing the night away!
Mr Norman

We really enjoyed our stay in Wood Cottage - it was an ideal base for exploring the Lakes and North Yorkshire. The cottage was a good size for two people and quiet, whilst still being close to all the necessary amenities in Kendal town.

Excellent location and a lovely cottage - ideal for our purposes.
Ms Green
June 2011
The cottage was lovely, very welcoming and homely. The extras in the cottage were very much appreciated - butter, bread, milk, tea. Some sauces, spices and rice were also left in the cupboards from the previous tenants which was brilliant as it made it easier to cook meals without buying (and wasting) brand new items. The information on various local walks left in the cottage was also great - we had things to do every day and got to see lots of the beautiful Lake District scenery.
Mr Cracknell
May 2011
Strange but quaint and cosy accommodation. Lots to do in Kendal itself.
Ms Mathieu
November 2010
Wood Cottage is a beautiful, quaint cottage in a good location tucked away from the high street but within minutes of the town. The standard of cleanliness was very high and the owners of the cottage left us lovely little touches, fresh milk and bread, tea, coffee, biscuits, flowers and wine.

June 2015
Lovely cottage and perfect location. Never had such good nights sleep and loved the mood lights! Everything there for a lovely stay and such lovely touches. Thanks so much for the goodies on arrival. Have already recommended your cottage to friends and family. Thank you!
December 2012
The cottage was very comfortable. The little extras ie flowers, wine, bread, milk etc provided by the owners made it even more welcoming. We had a very enjoyable week despite the ever changing weather. We would go again.
December 2012
I have already sent in a review for Wood Cottage 4 weeks after we returned. The only problem we had was my wife has difficulty with stairs. As there was no rail to hold on to this was quite difficult for her. I feel this should be mentioned in case visitors also have a problem with stairs. Other than that we enjoyed our stay.
July 2013
Well set out cottage - nice welcome package on arrival - flowers, wine, bread & biscuits. Bedroom very warm in June (summer duvet would be appreciated - bedroom downstairs - not a good ideal for windows to be open at night - due to the location of the cottage). Parking not off road as advertised - street parking was the only parking available. Bed comfortable - but due to size of bedroom unable to get out one side. Shower curtain mouldy, wet room compact but easy to use.
